Big fan of "I don't have a donkey in this fiesta"

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I don’t have a piñata in this quinceañera

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I don't have a militia in this civil war

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 35 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't have a dog in this race

Dog racing is somewhat common.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 16 points 2 weeks ago

More common than horse fights for sure

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I would have felt a dog racing is actually more common than horse racing. Dogs are cheaper than horses, and don't require jockeys, so that's a cost saving right there.

Con Idea: I could get a really big dog, and enter it as a small horse.

"not my circus, not my monkey"

[–] joyjoy@lemm.ee 9 points 2 weeks ago
[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

I always heard it as "Not my monkeys, not my circus"

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Ill jump off that bridge when I get to it.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

It's a moo point.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 2 weeks ago

Good, that shows you can correctly schedule tasks.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I've never heard "dog in this fight" before; what the fuck and it's normal??

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 9 points 2 weeks ago

I've heard it a lot. Xennial from rural Ohio, USA originally

[–] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I've heard that before, but I'm my lived experience the horse race once has been way more common. maybe it's reversed if you live somewhere that dogfighting is more common.

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

the horse one is wayy more common apparently considering that I've never heard the dog one

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Whenever there's a horsefight, my money is always on the horse. The guy fighting it always gets demolished.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 5 points 2 weeks ago

"That's just three jockeys in a trenchcoat!"

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 11 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

You're the one fucking this goat; I'm just holding the horns ~ ex of mine (she might also have said bull)

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

"Alright, let's fuck this chicken"

-Friend of mine, every time he runs open mic night.

[–] LapGoat@pawb.social 8 points 2 weeks ago

it was goat

[–] makeshiftreaper@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Clearly you aren't familiar with the Calvins Twins and their horse boxing empire

[–] 4_degrees@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Ya gotta laugh

[–] ggppjj@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Love me some malaphors. My personal favorite is mixing "shit or get off the pot" and "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"

[–] nooneescapesthelaw@mander.xyz 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Does the pope shit in the woods

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

Why you keep asking me that, holmes? I told you, I dunno. Where his Holiness does his business, is his business

[–] luciferofastora@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Got me giggling like mad here. I didn't know about the second one, let alone the combinations. I'll have to remember that.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 weeks ago

You wouldn't bring a dog to a horse fight.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

"Not my circus, not my monkeys" is another pretty common one I've heard

[–] veganpizza69@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"I don't have a horse in this cook-off."

[–] jia_tan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

I don’t have a cock in this horse-off

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

I have neither a horse-sized dog, nor 100 dog-sized horses in this roller derby.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I don't have a dog in this race could refer to Greyhound races

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't have a horse in this Goatse.

[–] synae@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

That really puts the wedding ring on Mr Hands

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 4 points 2 weeks ago

I've played enough Mount & Blade to know that if you're in a fight and everyone else has horses you're probably fucked.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

I don't have a Pope in the woods

[–] sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

I don't have a horse in this dog house, but if I did, I wouldn't look it in the mouth.

[–] leftzero@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 2 weeks ago
[–] Philharmonic3@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

The squeaky wheel gets the cheese.

Does the Pope shit in the woods?

[–] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

A picture is worth its weight in gold.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 weeks ago

I don't have a horse in this fight sounds more close to "my kingdom for a horse" than the originals though.

[–] barkingspiders@infosec.pub 1 points 2 weeks ago

This really clicked for me tonight

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Horse dog. Don't I?
