Faith is belief without evidence, and I have evidence everyone who has lived so far has died and the rest of us have enough in common that would cause us to die for similar reasons as those already dead. I don't need faith to believe we're all going to die, faith would be needed to believe someone won't die because we have no convincing evidence for any immortals yet.

You may be interested in a paper Thomas Negal wrote about 50 years ago called "What is it like to be a bat?"

It's not just about emotional states, which we can observe the behavioral states of but don't know what it is like to experience as other animals. It's about experience and consciousness which I think speaks to the underlying question of when other animals experience an emotional state if we can relate it to our own phenomenology for similar appearing states.

You can't just look at the total numbers and %'s because not every vote has equal weight, the way the electoral college is set up and fptp elections means votes in contested states and districts count for much more than if you're from a highly partisan area.

Not just humility but literally poverty as a virtue too

Last year Michigan received about 290 million in weed taxes, around 90 went to municipalities and county governments, 100 million to schools, and 100 million to roads.

I used to be kbm exclusive but there have been some pretty good controller improvements made over the years, things like hotkey layers in Skyrim UI mods or the final fantasy MMO giving dozens of unique hotkeys on a controller, and new hardware with back buttons and shoulder buttons that keep both thumbs on the thumbsticks. Can't beat mouse for precision, but there are tradeoffs for that.

Gross weirdos, too fragile to even have a conversation without making rational arguments illegal.

Company stooges seems a more appropriate department title than human resources, also who the fuck wants to be called a resource I'm a human being not a number.

Sharon Slater, president of Family Watch International, an Arizona-based conservative lobby group ... spent the past quarter-century working with officials from Africa, Europe and the Middle East to oppose abortion, gay marriage and sex education not centered on abstinence ... She said Family Watch has never supported anti-LGBTQ legislation in African countries and wasn’t “responsible for the treatment of homosexuals under African laws.”

Get the fuck out of here, advocating against human rights and brothers & sisters in humanity for decades has consequences!?

Been listening to a few lately, a few John Carpenter's, Mayhem was pretty out there, looking for more that are interesting or wildly off topic or entertaining.

"In these times of darkness and hopelessness, we wish to share a strong message of solidarity and recognition to those Palestinian journalists who are covering this crisis in such dramatic circumstances. As humanity, we have a huge debt to their courage and commitment to freedom of expression," said Mauricio Weibel, Chair of the International Jury of Media Professionals.

Just trying to live with as little advertising as possible and curious what tips or tricks the community has aside from moving out to a cabin in the woods.

I can't really get away from road side advertising for now. Public sporting events are completely infected, and for the ads I am forced to see I try to make a conscious effort not to buy their goods or services. I won't subscribe to a streaming service if they have a sub+ad tier, if they're separate free with ads or sub no ads I'll support it.

Not really for any moral stance, but ad blockers are good at avoiding malware and some services are basically broken if you have to wait for an ad network, and I just feel mentally healthier in general without the extra propaganda.
