!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Surely there aren't enough people walking them constantly to mash the grass to death, is there some kind of membrane placed under the dirt to stop grass growth?

i have two friends who i’ve known since my freshman year, i’ll call them e and k. of course, since i’ve known them for so long, i’ve trusted them with a certain thing: i’m autistic.

however, e and k (especially e), although usually nice people who include me and stuff, i feel like they just pity me and tend to make autism my entire identity.

i understand that both girls didn’t grow up with many friends due to being seen as “strange”, and are therefore quite cynical and lost hope about people.

in sophomore year when i confessed that i liked e: “sorry, i’m not into your kind of people.”

“how come people absolutely despise [me]? she’s so nice but people hate her for having tics and being autistic.”

“don’t be friends with them! they hate you, you know because they think you’re ret4rded.”

she’s gotten nicer now, and i know that e and k were trying to be nice about it and less blunt (that’s what they said and that they were quoting them, not saying so themselves), but i also don’t get (unless they overheard) how these people are comfortable talking to them about it.

what i’m more upset about, though, is the fact that so many people apparently think of me as just a “ret4rded kid” and nothing more despite being in multiple honors classes (all honors, in fact, since 8th grade).

There was one called Homophobia that got like 50 members after being created like 10 minutes before. And of all things, a community about homophobia. With a drawing of a Confederate beating up gay people.

Dad has recently gotten himself a much younger girlfriend whom he has moved in last month. My bedroom and their bedroom are wall to wall. The fact that they fuck doesn’t make me uncomfortable - so happy for them, but they do it on max volume. No joke. Every night at 11 and in the morning at 6 on the clock. These walls are paper thin apparently.

On every nutrition label (on the ones i've seen at least) there's a section called "Carbohydrates", and right under it is "of which sugars"

For example, this pack of chips I have lists that in 100g there's 61g of carbohydrates, of which 2.4g are sugars (speaking of which, what sugars are these, even? monosaccharides? polisaccharides? both?)

And that made me wonder - what makes up the other 58.6 grams, and what purpose do those carbohydrates serve in the body? I'll admit that I'm really inexperienced when it comes to stuff like this, so apologies in advance if this is something really obvious.

I keep hearing differing methods!! I'd like to know how I'm suppose to sit?

To be clear: I am taking my own blood pressure & was urged to do so & keep track on the advice of my doctor.

Which is a myth?:

  • Can't have eaten/drank anything for the last half hour
  • feet flat on the floor
  • lying down but sitting up
  • back against the chair
  • don't cross your legs/ankles
  • only use your left arm
  • hand facing upward
  • hand facing downward
  • keep your arm down
  • keep your arm raised to the level of your chest/heart

What's the correct way????

Anything else I should know? I keep getting inconsistent results, and it's stressing me out.

Thank you.

Since we're using El Salvador like it's a new Gitmo. Like yes, it would still suck for the people from El Salvador.

But at least people from other countries would go back to their home country. Presumably to be treated far better than El Salvador.

Hello, I’m currently trying to figure out how to make an intro page for my ProBoards forum but can’t seem to figure out how to add text.

I can choose to add a post, but it keeps telling me “invalid Post ID” and I cannot find any sort of “post ID” except for the post URL and it doesn’t work when I type the URL in.

Can someone help me out? Thanks a bunch!

Since Wrestlemania there's been nothing but stories about John Cena winning an amazing 17th title, blah blah blah... It's a "History making moment", yadda yadda yadda...

Like...of course he did. It's the storyline. It's quite literally "in the script".

This isn't an achievement. Why is this in my sports news next to last night's hockey scores instead of next to an article about who was the bitchiest on the lastest episode of Real Housewives?

I get it. I loved Wrestling growing up. Back when we all WERE pretending it was real; Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, etc... But I thought at some point they steered into the whole "entertainment" aspect when most of us grew the hell up and clued into the absurdity of it all.

I'm guessing the answer is leverage, but I have no clue.

When I look at comments I see some with upvotes and then some with hearts and upvotes. I don't see how to heart a comment myself.

I've never had an office job and I've always wondered what it is a typical cubicle worker actually does in their day-to-day. When your boss assigns you a "project", what kind of stuff might it entail? Is it usually putting together some kind of report or presentation? I hear it's a lot of responding to emails and attending meetings, but emails and meetings about what, finances?

I know it'll probably be largely dependent on what department you work in and that there are specific office jobs like data-entry where you're inputting information into a computer system all day long, HR handles internal affairs, and managers are supposed to delegate tasks and ensure they're being completed on time. But if your job is basically what we see in Office Space, what does that actually look like hour-by-hour?

@nostupidquestions @pathfinder With all the buff other spells and debuffs being status bonuses and martials and casters being balanced, what's stopping the best composition from being bards + 3 martials in Pathfinder 2e?

I realize this could all be misinformation because it's AI.

I was curious how the activity stats on the sidebar are calculated. I was looking through the GitHub, but I'm not familiar with Rust, so I was having trouble parsing everything.

Would anyone be able to point me to the relevant section on github?

The tops are a different color than the bottom of the same tree. I have four of them i rescued. And I'm afraid that I should have covered them this winter. Southern Wisconsin.

I've tried reverse lookup and it just keeps sending me to Pinterest, so pardon the post.

Does anyone know what this is called and/or the shape? Like, is this one long rectangle, a ruana, etc.? I really like it but can't seem to find one that's this big. I either want to buy it or possibly make it, but I can't figure out what the shape is.

Alternatively, should children be allowed to change their names to one in a restricted list anytime before 18, then to anything after 18?

When I'm working and have a question, I usually ask the ones I know to be knowledgeable and with ample job experience for advice, because they're the most qualified to give me the best advice.

Sometimes, when I do this, an extrovert who needs to talk will try to answer at the same time the person I asked is answering, meaning I get 2 very similar answers on stereo if that makes sense, but I cannot concentrate on any of the 2 stereo answers.

Sometimes this happens with 3 coworkers: the knowledgeable one I asked the question to and 2 extroverts answering at the same time the person I asked answers.

I hate it when this happens. I'm clearly talking to ONE person, looking at him in the eye. Why do other people feel I'm talking to them, even though I am not making eye contact with them?

I mean, can you guys listen to 2 people answering a question simultaneously and get both answers right?

I've started telling them I cannot hear the answer if they speak at the same time and sometimes I have to tell them I'm not talking to them, but to a specific coworker. So far, they're backing off, but why are (some?) extroverts like this?

To me, the best way to learn something if I'm not reading a book or manual is with one on one conversations: I ask a question, knowledgeable person gives an answer, I write down what I know I'm gonna have to remember and move on. Is this something only introverts do?

The movie Toy Story needed top-computers in 1995 to render every frame and that took a lot of time (800000 machine-hours according to Wikipedia).

Could it be possible to render it in real time with modern (2025) GPUs on a single home computer?
