/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Could someone wiser than me translate?

[–] sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org 99 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (4 children)

Panel 1: Reference to the TV show Letterkenny ("Let's get on with it")
Panel 2: Reference to old TV ads for Tombstone Pizza ("What do you want on your Tombstone" i.e. "Any last requests?")
Panel 3: Reference to Futurama episode: "Brannigan, Begin Again" ("Yes. Tell my wife how I feel about her.")
Panel 4: Reference to the movie, The Princess Bride ("Yes of course, I'll do that.")
Panel 5: Reference to the movie, Blade Runner ("Time to die...")
Panel 6: Meta reference, sticking with the referential nature of the dialog instead of actually rolling credits.

Thanks for the reference breakdown.

[–] sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Very welcome! With my brain, it's about the only thing I'm good for 😬

Who is that, ajdnwhy do they look like a mediaeval fantasy character sitting on a modern couch?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (3 children)

My response from another:

[Freja] from God of War, yes. In place of Liz Lemon in 30 Rock.

Edit: There's a wonderful treasure trove of meme based gifs from the game studio itself.

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Holy shit these are incredible. Reminds me of the skit easter egg in the credits to Summoner.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is that the same background though?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Assuming a facsimile using the game engine.

You’re like some kind of sentient pop culture wiki.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Edit: Wasn't meant for me, just felt compelled.

[–] sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 months ago

You absolutely are a pop culture wizard though!

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Excellent. What exactly is six fingers?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

Hail, Satan ^in ^the ^details

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Gotta put a closing caret on your superscript words in Lemmy. And end a line with two spaces if you want the text to appear on the next line.
^in^ ^the^ ^details^

What app/UI you using? Some of the former Reddit apps that were converted to Lemmy haven't implemented markdown according to the Lemmy specification, especially regarding ^superscript^ ~subscript~

  • Picard sees the grim situation for what it is and forges ahead
  • He asks Dathon if he has any last words/message to get across
  • Dathon wants to send a farewell to his wife
  • Picard makes a promise to see the message through
  • Dathon exclaims that he is dying
  • Executive Producer Gene Roddenberry

One of the six fingered man’s promises was a lie

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sure, but the one to Humperdinck was intended.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Didn't the message have something to do with Inigo Montoya, and something about his father?
