Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Better get used to it. It's nothing but 'USA Approved' for the next 4 years.
We've got an optimist over here!
Fuck that, they better get used to an unruly populace. I'm sick and tired of madness reigning. The world not making fucking sense. Everything being fucked for profit and power. It doesnt have to be like this.
Just like it's been approved for the past year.
You wish it only had the same level of approval as under Biden. Don't worry. Reality will teach some harsh lessons soon.
US already jails children, this policy is actually less harsh than ours
Only if you don't understand the nuance of the word "jailed" here.
Like we did at the border. Despite "innocent until proven guilty."
Knowing what we know about the IDF, "fucken children" is probably going to happen
According to the wording it's only supposed to be for children who murder someone under the auspices of terrorism. But I get the feeling the terrorism term will become the driving force for the imprisonments. Also, the condition where they can imprison children for 10 days if they are deemed to pose a threat is a really broad that is very prone to abuse.
I'm sure children won't be pushed towards violence just because they've lost family and friends, home and childhood, to Israeli attacks.
I mean they have been shooting them in the forehead for fun anyway. No surprise here, I guess.
That certainly won't lead to a new generation of people willing to join Hamas, no sir!
Israel has a military industrial complex. They know they're sewing the seeds for continued conflict. They need continued conflict. They profit off of it.
I want to stay ontop of the news for this whole conflict/genocide but this shit is dépressing the hell outta me. I don't understand how anybody could treat other human beings the way Isreal is in this.
Edit: especially children like what the fuck
Being under 14, believe it or not… jail.
Over 14, also jail, see, under/over.
What if I exactly 14?
Also in the article, they passed a law for deporting family members of "terrorists". And this includes Israeli Arabs, supposedly "full citizens" of the totally not-apartheid "only democracy".
I don't understand what's changed here. I saw Israel routinely arrest children when I worked in the West Bank.
They would hold them in Ofer prison until the parents paid a ransom to get their kids back. The kids were younger than 14.
The reason was some Israeli (usually a racist settler) called the police and said the kid did something. Usually they claimed throwing rocks. One time a kid was just on the roof of his building playing with birds. Israelis get nervous when they see Palestinians above them.
Isn't this covered in Administrative Detention laws already?
I think this law is about "convicted" kids, as opposed to "just" administrative detention.
Pretty messed up of Israel.
Agreed they should arrest the dude he keeps popping up in the news.
Will they be jailing them now instead of using them for target practice or is this just for the survivors?
Israeli jails are torture chambers. Would you rather a sniper drone shoot you in the head? Or spend years being tortured in prison?
Good point
Also, it bears mentioning that this would place minors at the hands of the "Jewish Power"-controlled National Security ministry, an extremist kahanist group headed by a convicted terrorist-supporter, and of whose many members belonged formerly to a banned terrorist and racist group.
