It's also a remaster of a game that aged very well in my opinion and didn't really need a facelift.

So many people defending this, is insanity. $10 is still $10, which I'll save to put into a different game.
See, I used to be against remasters and remakes too but nowadays it’s like, yeah, whatever. Either I already have played the game and don’t care about a remaster or don’t care about said game or will play it in a few years at which point the remaster will come in handy.
If this was released halfway through the PS6 life I wouldn't have complained. Releasing it now is just greedy and lazy.
Sony still releasing games on PS4. Still remasters PS4 game.
I'm on the side that a remaster of a PS4 gen game dumb, but HZD was always the butt of the joke in regard to those awful generic bobblehead animations during every single dialog. It was laughably bad. With the reveal trailer, it does make a pretty big difference. Everything else? Not so much.
If this had been a PC game all along, these animation overhaul would have been a patch of the original game, but since the trailer insists that they re-recorded all motion captures for the dialogs of the whole game, they get to sell it full price again.
HFW was so much worse for conversation animations.
I genuinely don't understand it, the game itself is gorgeous.
Glad the complete edition on GOG is spared from this bullshit, and I hope GOG pushes hard against this kind of stuff on their store.
There was a lot of noise surrounding GOG a few months back about something like that. GOG was going in that direction but had to pull back/remove the game(?) to due backlash.
There was Hitman in 2021 that caused some backlash
https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/hitman-game-of-year-edition-removed-from-gog-apology-issued
Hmm, I thought it was more recent, but it sounds about right!
I agree with that stance, if a game doesn't work when the service is pulled or if the system is offline, then it doesn't belong on GOG.
Yeah, it's why I always choose GOG over Steam when I have a choice, even if it costs slightly more.
As usual the problem is people will bitch about it... but then they will do it anyway. We always forget that voting by keeping our wallets closed is a powerful defense against bullshit like this.
Exactly. Don't reward this kind of behavior.
Unfortunately, we Americans have proven that most of us would sell our very souls for the smallest convenience...and corporations know it.
Every body got no money but some how they are still buying 100% discretionary software....
I've watched gamers en masses say this shit for 15+ years, and you know what's interesting? These companies STILL do it.
EA still sucks. Ubisoft still sucks. Layoffs are still happening. Corporatization still rules. DLC still went rampant. Games as a service still is a thing.
Interesting.
Almost like boycotting and hand wringing and rambling endlessly with whiny virtue signaling online hasn't made a difference at large.
Boycotting is doing nothing. If 99 people do nothing and 1 person buys the game, studio still makes revenue.
You know what you can do to stop bad games practices? Share resources on how to do piracy. Shoplift copies of the game and dump them in the trash. Write to your politicians and ask for customer protections reform. DDoS their servers. Use the internet to bully and troll people who admit to playing the game. Cancel people who stream the game.
I'm boycotting EA since Origin and Ubisoft since UPlay, don't use Epic and I think I only bought one Denuvo title before boycotting them as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The problem is more that most people don't give a shit in the first place.
The people that
bitch about it
probably aren't the same people buying remastered games on release.
I honestly respect the people going so far to buy the game just to badly review and then refund it. I just don't buy games with such stupid crap (well, except Doom Eternal which I bought because I overlooked the rather small golden box and actually even forgot that I linked a Bethesda account years earlier for some freebie or whatever it was).
I think it's more that the vast vast majority of people just do not see creating or using an account as a negative.
Don't buy this or you're just letting Sony know this shit is okay. If you absolutely must play it:
Pass.
🤦♂️ Sony being Sony.
I'm in the middle of a play-through right now.
Is this going to boot me? Can I block the game from being upgraded? Or is remastered a new SKU?
You can avoid the upgrade by not paying for it.
There's no way they're giving you an "upgrade" for free. Don't worry, as long as you don't pay for it, you're not getting the new version.
Anyone know if this affects its ability to be played on steam deck?
