Like two or three generations ago, they fired female teachers who had kids. Also, he’s Catholic. I know he’s an adult convert and so mega weird — adult converts are usually just attracted to the hierarchy and lore instead of the charity and service parts — but he should at least know about nuns teaching school.

My experience is that adult converts to Catholicism mostly do so because you can't be married in a Catholic church if you're not Catholic and their spouse is Catholic. Which is to say, it's disingenuous.

Many teachers don’t have kids because they simply can’t afford it.

Vance's mom was so overbearing as a kid and throughout his life he has been subservient to women. He married a woman like his mom and he hates women.
