Jesus… I almost sent this to a coworker because he’s the only one I know that uses a vertical mouse.

Then I saw Saddam. Lol

[–] bisby@lemmy.world 44 points 6 months ago (2 children)

The original is an ad for a Posturite mouse. Then reddit added the mouse. then someone else added saddam.

I tried using a vertical mouse for a while. Trying to click with it without the mouse moving at the same time made me want to throw the thing across the room. It causes you to grip it much harder than you need to grip a regular mouse which eliminates any ergonomic benefit it theoretically has. If you need ergonomics, focus on the basics like desk, chair, and monitor height.

Lol, "unnatural"

I use a Logitech Master mx3s and it works great. It doesn't have the right angle to be considered a vertical mouse, but it's angle works better for me. I also struggled a bit with vertical mouses, but I believe it was caused by the cheap products I bought and not the angle itself. But for now I'm set with my mx3s.

Yeah I enjoyed the relaxed arm posture but trying to do fine line tracing and clicking in Photoshop made me give up on it

[–] NightAuthor@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I found the MX Ergo trackball mouse much more enjoyable than a vertical mouse. Which surprised me, because it seems like it’s more of a change, but it felt more natural

Both of those dislocated elbows look painful

[–] variants@possumpat.io 10 points 6 months ago

More reason to grab it vertical

Saddam Hussein was huge on 196 originally

[–] CptEnder@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

They're definitely kindred spirits haha

[–] Socsa@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 months ago

Was it ever contained?

[–] howrar@lemmy.ca 10 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I feel like I'm missing the joke. Can someone explain why Saddam is there?

The development of the meta of the meme became adding him to more and more outrageous hiding spots, which isn't really captured on knowyourmeme.

I think this works because it's a surprisingly good hiding spot because he sort of blends in to the aesthetic of the image, but is silly for obvious reasons to anyone who's tried hiding inside a forearm.

Also the fact that he was snuck into images like this makes his appearance come with a sort of "gotcha" moment, a little like recognising Loss or similar memes. The humour is for people who've seen it before, but not for a while, who go "haha mouse... Oh goddammit" when they see it.

The fact that Saddam Hussein was explicitly labeled in a USA Today graphic is funny.

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Cuz he's twisted

like your ulna & radius are forced to twist over each other when you grab an old-fashioned non-ergonomic computer mouse

[–] Churbleyimyam@lemm.ee 8 points 6 months ago

Lol this is quality

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 6 points 6 months ago (5 children)

Shameless plug for the best ergonomic mouse of all time. It's only on that one site named after a dying tropical river tho. :|

[–] phuntis@sopuli.xyz 14 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (2 children)

I absolutely wouldn't trust anker with a device that plugs into my computer after their subbrand eufy got caught spying on people through the cameras they advertised as storing the footage local only but were uploading them to the cloud and it looks like it's not that different in shape from the logitech lift or mx vertical which you can buy directly from logitech and not on amazon maybe I'm missing something but it just looks like a standard vertical mouse though admittedly pretty cheap

[–] rbesfe@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Is your period key broken?

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 7 points 6 months ago

I felt strangely like I was out of breath after reading that lol.

[–] phuntis@sopuli.xyz 4 points 6 months ago (2 children)

no I just hate punctuation also who uses social media on a computer and not a phone

[–] bricklove@midwest.social 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Punctuation is the difference between helping your uncle, Jack, off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 2 points 6 months ago

Why not both?

Certainly there are other options; however, my positive appraisal very much includes the cost of the product. As well as the longevity of it, as I've been using mine for hours on end, every day for at least six years.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It's not a vertical thumb ball so you're wrong

[–] NightAuthor@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Bruh, the angle doesn’t have to be that high when it’s stationary.

[–] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

How long was your adjustment period when you started using that?

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Zero. I went from growing the factory for a couple of hours at a time to however long my bodily and economic obligations allowed; however, as others have helpfully pointed out, there are better options and I wonder what my experience would have been had I chose otherwise.

*Probably the same, but poorer.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Evoluent invented the vertical mouse and is better than that anker one, imo. Have had both

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Looks good; however, with a price of $132.50 (before shipping) I must say it is decidedly worse.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Good deal and best of all time are a bit different

[–] NightAuthor@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Worst mouse I’ve used in the past decade. I tried it for a while, I preferred going thumb trackball with the MX Ergo

[–] livus@kbin.social 5 points 6 months ago

This is my favourite meme of the week.

[–] Alsjemenou@lemy.nl 5 points 6 months ago

Organic mouse rule

[–] barsoap@lemm.ee 4 points 6 months ago

If your wrist is twisted your shoulder joint isn't open enough. Lift that elbow.

[–] pseudo@jlai.lu 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

téma la taille du ... euh. Je crois que je fais une rechute !

[–] ElCanut@jlai.lu 2 points 6 months ago

Les bonnes refs !

[–] ItzzMe@midwest.social 1 points 6 months ago

Aren’t both “natural”? Why is having your forearm bones crossed unnatural if that’s literally the point of having two of ‘em?
