Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

"Guys on Linux and Self Hosting message board weigh in womens makeup and fashion. Adds men to title to pretend it's not targeted at women"

This is truly unpopular opinion, and for a good reason.

I don't know. I gave OP an upvote because it is an unpopular opinion, but they're not wrong in saying that it can look weird.

You see a lot of people who wear colours that don't suit them, and red tends to stand out more. An example I've seen a few times is a pale skinned lady wearing a very bright red lipstick that overpowers the other colours that she's wearing.

Did we ever agree as a sub...uh, sublemmy, that upvote=unpopular opinion and downvote= eh, probably not that unpopular/I agree with you? I know someone brought it up the other day but I'm not sure where/ if we landed.

I'm not sure how to vote on these things.

There's so much airbrushing on this photo that she looks fake. Red lipstick on a pretty lady looks amazing. Case in point, Taylor Swift.

So what color of lipstick do you recommend?

For a neutral lipstick, it is recommended to use the color of your nipple.

use the color of your nipple.

How treacherous!

I actually agree in many cases. Dark/bright red lipstick looks very weird to me. Makes it look pretty of a Halloween costume or something.

If vampires wear make-up, does a floating make-up face show in the mirror?

[–] OpenStars@startrek.website 6 points 8 months ago

Asking the REAL questions here! This is probably how they hide the fact that they don't show up in mirrors or on cameras when out walking in the human world. Otherwise there'd just be floating clothing... and that would be odd. :-P

Somehow I feel like their victims might need it more - afterwards.

[–] OpenStars@startrek.website 1 points 8 months ago

Bold of you to presume that the victims would "need" much of anything after a vampire is done, but okay:-).

It looks good on Taylor Swift

[–] Binthinkin@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

It looks seductive and you don’t get laid I imagine.

This might be an even better unpopular opinion. Which I agree with about 85%.
