In UNGA resolutions China always votes against Israel in favour of Palestine. Voting records are publicly available here: https://digitallibrary.un.org/search?ln=en&cc=Voting+Data

It said something else before the edit but it's all good now.

How does one be a populist while not pandering to the public.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I would say that is largely irrelevant. Chinese EVs are so much cheaper there is no way Western producers can compete with them barring tariffs. In a level playing field Chinese companies will completely push out the Western ones in low- and mid-range market. For luxury vehicles maybe the brand recognition can save them but in a tight economy cheaper cars will attract a lot of attention.

as well as their own operations in China

This is the reason. It is not because of their interest in fairness or free market (there is none), but because China is both critical to their production process and a massive market that cannot be ignored. If China retaliates their execs won't be able to buy their tenth yacht.

Yeah. Progressive bracketing of income tax is only one aspect of the whole thing. It gets a lot of attention but once you take into account taxes on everything else, which also includes the most basic groceries for some reason, the non-wealthy end up getting taxed more proportionally to their income.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 2 months ago (3 children)

That is the policy around taxation for everything. The "middle class" always froths with rage everytime the budget is announced over this. Ever since GST has been introduced it has gotten worse as well, with more of the taxes going to the central government. The economic policies here are pretty preposterous.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 months ago

Sorry but no. I have never had this issue.

Can't say that what you are looking for is common. This is the first time I've heard this requirement bring described.

Librejs started a long while back. I'm no js historian but I reckon things have changed a ton in jsland since then. My guess is that there assumption is that since JavaScript files are just scripts, they contain the source code and therefore all it checks for is is the license.

I don't know at which point things like obfuscation through minification and systems like webpack came along. I'm only theorising but I feel librejs has not been able to keep up with the times.

Apparently all Musk wanted to do with this was undercut any attempts at high speed rail in California.

In this whole article there are only two paragraphs that are not useless word salad:

The government now wants to set a cap on how much money each player can spend within a title, according to the draft.

The regulations also asked that game publishers operating abroad respect Chinese laws and culture and refrain from endangering national security, without elaborating. Tencent is the world’s largest gaming publisher, with investments in studios from Epic Games Inc. in the US to Supercell in Europe. The agency will take feedback on the proposed rules for a month, without saying when they take effect.

Bonus reddit gamer cope:

I can get behind prohibiting these sorts of mechanics. Don't think they really add anything of substance. Though I would prefer that companies and the industry self-regulate rather than having the government step in, but that's unlikely to happen.

Look at this idiot that believes in corporations regulating themselves. I bet he thinks children who believe in Santa (a very real phenomenon whom I once saw in a mall) are stupid.

I'm not really losing my mind. But seeing so much plastic and not being able to talk about it is weighing heavily on me.

Plastic is everywhere. Literally everything comes packaged in plastic. Most of the stuff is made from plastic. It's not gonna biodegrade. Can't incinerate it either. It's sent to landfills. It chokes birds, cows and seahorses to death. There are literal islands of plastic trash in the ocean. It's even inside us as micro (soon to be macro) plastics.

Meanwhile corporations have gaslit the world about the wonders of recycling. Plastic is very dear to them because it is even cheaper than it is convenient. Only 30% of the plastic produced in India is ever recycled.

I feel like in the future plastic is gonna have to be tossed into the space or some shit like that.

Like how Baldur's Gate 3 is based on Dungeons and Dragons.

I love how Disco Elysium revolves around talking and the occassional dice roll for checks. I love how combat is not thrown around willu nilly.

I am gonna be watching a play next week and there is no way I am doing it sober. I also don't wanna get blitzed all at once before the show and slowly crash into the wasteland of reality with time. I would like to slowly and steadily drink during the event.

I am not worried about the part involving sneaking the alcohol in. I will have to figure that out on my own.

My main concern is the choice of alcohol and how to drink it.

On paper, something clear like vodka or white rum mixed in water seems ideal since just by looking one cannot tell it apart from water. But the stench is quite unmistakeable so I am open to suggestions on what to drink.

Regarding how to drink it, the smell of the alcohol makes it a bit difficult to drink while watching. If I pop open my bottle/container the smell might give me away. I really don't know how people around me would react to that so I wanna avoid that. Other option is to drink in the washroom or something but that would require me to get up every 20-30minutes which seems suboptimal. Maybe if I use one of those sipper bottles I can drink during the show without the drink making contact with open air? Again, open to suggestions on this front too.

Nothing frustrates me more than not being able to pause for no seemingly good reason. I'm playing Wild Hearts right now and even though I never play online I cannot pause for some reason. To simulate pausing, I can turn off the xbox and the quick resume feature makes it look like the game was paused when I turn the console back on.

Other games guilty of this are Fromsoft games: Dark Souls, Elden Ring and so on.

Obviously all of these games have an online component. Not allowing pausing when this component is activated makes sense. But if I am playing completely online why cannot I pause? In Soulslike the worst exploit I can think of is switching equipment on the fly but is that really that bad? When stuff comes up in the middle crucial moments it frustrates me a lot.

Maybe it's because I am a little bit tipsy but I burst into laughter five seconds into the video.

First of all, I am proud to say that I don't use the website ALMOST at all. I do have an account though just in case. On very rare occasions, I leave mean replies to mean posts by mean people.

I don't follow anyone. I went to the "For You" page by accident today. There were only two types of post there:

  • Posts from engagement farming accounts that post cute animal content. For example, a picture of a dog with a caption "I turned 15 today please leave a like". (30%)
  • LITERAL HASBARA from official Israel and IDF accounts. Tons and tons of it. Most of them with mentioning SV very liberally. (70%)

I went on a rampage and marked 30 terrible posts as "not interested". Now I logged in again and there are mostly unfunny memes with a few pro-Palestine posts sprinkled in.

What a trash website.

TLDR: Don't use Twitter (currently X).

I wonder how many got it right.

The Realism school of "political philosophy" is when you indiscriminately murder babies and turn entire countries into minefields to protect the interests of your country's billionaire class from a vague possible threat in the far future.

  1. How much reliant is it on combat and shooting? Starfield for example was too reliant on shooting in my opinion. In fact, space "exploration" and "RPG" felt like afterthoughts.
  2. Any good mod suggestions? I am not looking for anything too fancy but QoL and bugfix mods are appreciated.
