What you're talking about is shorting the market, that is dangerous to do. Unlimited liability

You buy the dip, not the bump.

We are all made of stardust. We have a little bit of everything inside of us.... Probably

The recall is redundant, it should just be a notice that butter contains milk, and stickers for any leftover inventory.

Collecting it and destroying it like it's poison is silly. If your allergic to milk, you probably should not be buying butter.

Every time Zogg publishes a video, i feel a little emotional rush, they are all gems.

Warning! Unless you setup "always relay call" for voip in signal these calls with strangers WILL disclose your IP address.

In most scenarios, for people on your contact list, that's not a big deal. But since call links can be shared with strangers, you're basically doxing yourself

Firefox lets you set default site settings, make the default site setting disable autoplay audio and video.

For sites where you know you trust the video, you can do a per site permission in the URL bar saying autoplay is allowed for like YouTube

Do you know why you fart? Are you secretly lactose intolerant but don't know it?

I use a kanban, or you can make notes with the in-game displays

https://gokanban.io/

Or a Google doc, or just a paper on your desk with notes. :)

It's a good video, the commentary was well thought out. Thank you for posting it

Never go to a place because it's popular, if you wouldn't go there if nobody else was there, you probably won't enjoy it when other people are there.

If you have a deep and strong interest in a place or a thing, it's great to visit no matter what. Low season might be better

a office and guest room, being on the social travel circuit for friends is really good in staying connected, or if we party too hard they can just crash here.

!metabolic_health@lemm.ee

A place to discuss metabolic health research, papers, lectures, diets, etc. I spend a good deal of time soaking up this area of research - Thought I'd just start publicly journaling my notes and maybe kick off a new community.

Monolithic Kernel

Why the hell, in the year 2024, are we still pushing monolithic kernels! The people deserve microkernels already

No well defined driver abi

Drivers running kernel space, no standard interface, they're not very portable. It's a mess

Systemd

What happened to kiss? This is like the polar opposite of kiss. It's like making emacs foundational to your entire operating system. It's basically its own operating system. It's troublesome

GNU is not (Lin)Ux

Enough said

Introducing a vertical circular bus - A giant O of belts and lifters fully connected allowing for input / output anywhere along the bus.

Pros :

  • Modular, you can build anywhere on the vertical bus stack
  • Limits spaghetti by providing a clear and easy to access API for all players.
  • Very fast to reach all parts of the factory since everything is very concentrated into a cube of productivity.

Cons :

  • Satisfactory netcode doesn't like SUPER dense areas, so it could become problematic for multiplayer.
  • There is no priority mergers yet in Satisfactory, so if you want to prioritize a input to the bus you downgrade the belts/lifters feeding INTO the priority input, that way the belt will back up and the priority input will provide the bulk of the material.

Nevermind! Apparently a satisfactory community already exists and this is being redundant. !satisfactory@lemmy.world <- Exists and is awesome.

~~!satisfactory_game@lemm.ee~~

~~A community to discuss Coffee Stain's Satisfactory - factory building game. But the game itself, engine issues, and user creations.~~

I'm looking forward to the launch, I certainly hope there aren't any delays. I have some tentative friend groups who want to get started immediately when it's available.

Does anybody else have a party planned for the launch?

Let's suppose we could dump enough "breathable" air (whatever that means for humans) into the solar system that it filled the spaces between planets.

What would happen?

A - I imagine it would then become possible to fly airplanes between planets, perhaps balloons? Would space travel become easier or harder?

B - According to another lemmy post, we would start to hear sound waves from the sun (A constant jackhammer sound - delightful)

C - Each each planet become the center of some mega cyclone (like the Jupiter storms, but bigger)?

D - At some point the air above us wouldn't be pushing down onto the earth at sea level, could we survive the additional pressure?

7/10, no notes
