Heavy use of shift seems sus.
It was caps lock.
Does capslock work for the !@#$%^&*() row? I don't think it does on my keyboard.
That was one of their legs on the shift key.
Caps lock is an option
Caps lock doesn't change the number row to use the alternate characters. It'd still type numbers.
guinea pigs have multiple legs.
Are you an Apple user? I have that same issue with my tablet. My PC and almost all other computers I've used do change the numbers with caps lock.
That depends on software keyboard layout. For example, for German hardware keyboards on Windows you can choose "Deutsch" and "Deutsch (IBM)" the latter has caps lock not affect the numbers.
I doubt it more due to the frequency of guinea pig shits. Unless they've been genetically modified since my childhood to poop less often, I could not envision a world where that keyboard does not have crap under the keys after the first response.
I had Guinea pigs too. I'd slap down their little front paws on the keyboard to type
