Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

Was it not already clear last time when he encouraged his followers to launch an insurrection when he lost?! How much fucking warning do you need?

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The insurrection happened because conservatives saw that they couldn't win democratically.

This time they did, with the help of voter suppression.

[–] baronvonj@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

.. win democratically. This time they did, with the help of voter suppression.

So, they didn't.

[–] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

with the help of voter suppression.

And amplification of the anti-electoralist/accelerationist cult's propaganda.

Let’s let him be president for life, as long as that life is less than four more years. Anything beyond that has a “second amendment solution”, as I’ve heard countless Republicans describe.

[–] psmgx@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

as I’ve heard countless Republicans describe

99% of whom are fucking chicken hawks.

The only ones who put their money where their mouths are got arrested for occupying BLM land in Oregon, or later, Congress.

Give a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I was called out (on Reddit) for pointing out how insanely dangerous this comment was in 2018.

Trump also praised China’s President Xi Jinping for recently consolidating power and extending his potential tenure, musing he wouldn’t mind making such a maneuver himself. “He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great,” Trump said. “And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.”

this is some annoying meta-irony thing that a politician should not be doing, because it is very difficult to discern a position from it. you have to take him both literally and sarcastically at the same time, which is about as useful as ignoring him. nobody has a clue what's going on when he talks

[–] KeenFlame@feddit.nu 3 points 1 week ago

It's senile ramblings and when he rambles on his deathbed who to kill next even then the sycophants around him will follow it as a message from the 6d gods playing chess against the enemy.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

“On Reddit”? There’s your problem.

[–] psyklax@lemmy.dbzer0.com 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"President for life"

monkey's paw moment.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

"I declare myself President for life!"

"So you're saying there's exactly one very particular way for us to make you not be President anymore...?"

"Uh..."

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemm.ee 30 points 1 week ago

With any luck he'll only live a couple more days.

[–] NewDay@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Where is Luigi? We need him more than ever.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A New York jail of some kind.

You know if you got a few thousand like minded people, you could change that.

In another castle.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

I mean, it's pretty obvious to anyone paying attention.

He wants to be America's Putin

[–] RizzoTheSmall@lemm.ee 22 points 1 week ago

I'd also like him to drop dead. It seems our goals are singularly aligned.

[–] UnexpectedBehavior@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

By dying within three years?

[–] meeeeetch@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He scrapped USAID. The CIA is gonna take that a lot more personally than 'he didn't escalate our harebrained scheme in Cuba to a full war'.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

I really really really hope you’re right

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Were the CIA to effective take steps to defend American democracy from authoritarianism they could almost be forgiven for all their other fuckery.

That.... can be arranged

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 1 week ago

Personally I hope he doesn't even finish two full terms.

[–] meowmeowbeanz@sopuli.xyz 18 points 1 week ago

When 'jokes' align with actions, they stop being jokes—this is a blueprint for authoritarianism. Well-supported claims and critical analysis.

[–] Scott_of_the_Arctic@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

Realistically, his life probably won't last until the end of his term. It's vance's theocratic dictatorship you need to watch out for.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I hope someone helps him fulfill that wish immediately.

[–] lipilee@feddit.nl 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

...by eating mcds and drinking coke every day. He'll catch that burger from the sky in 2-3 years.

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Not likely. Fucker is going to be 100 out of spite and being filthy rich

Luckily, Trump's built-in termination date isn't too far away and will limit the damage.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

I don’t think so. Dying of natural causes signals to Republicans that they just need to try again but with a younger fascist.

Dying from, say, a guillotine sends a different signal.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

We can certainly hope, but evil people have a way of clinging to life in ways that seem almost unnatural. Dick Cheney is still alive for god's sake.

[–] Scott_of_the_Arctic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Vance is the dangerous one. Trumps only purpose was to get Vance onto the throne. Peter Thiel will likely have him whacked and blame it on the radical left so Vance can use martial law to further dismantle Americas democratic institutions.

My dudes, this pacifist in the USA with active background investigations will happily say I’d die defending my country against this outcome.

[–] SuperCub@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah I'm pretty sure a majority of Americans would pick up guns for that.

[–] arotrios@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

And to think, just one bullet could make his dreams come true.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago

Knowing American history .... they only reserve bullets for the good ones

[–] SlothMama@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Whose life? He can't possibly live that much longer tbh

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m pretty sure he’s made comments that suggest he would try to eliminate elections.

[–] Chocrates@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

He is in charge of the FEC now.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

I think you meant to type Emperor For Life

[–] Xanza@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Gonna be a short life if he tries.... lol.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 8 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I hope you're right, but we can't even get our fellow citizens to vote against fascism. Now some are expecting these same people to protest, engage in economic boycotts, risk their livelihoods by staying home from their jobs, and more!?

[–] Xanza@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

His own guys tried to shoot him already. Twice. If he tries to outright break the constitution? Won't take long.

[–] shani66@ani.social 4 points 1 week ago

And he's out right attacking the agencies that would prevent such a righteous act as well, so i imagine the odds of success are only going to go up.

Even if he doesn't live through his term, the action of evading term limits will surely have much longer impact as it opens new doors for dictators.

Hopefully not very long then.
