“No, he’s not going to be president, that I can tell you,” Trump said. “And I’m safe. You know why he can’t be? He wasn’t born in this country.”

As you know a true leader has to keep saying they're the real leader

'He's not going to be president'

Too late, Trump has been purchased.

He had to say he's "safe"? Lol wat

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Sounds like donvict is worried.

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 27 points 3 days ago

the fact that he addressed this shows the framing is getting to him so people need to keep it up

[–] Yodan@lemm.ee 37 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That's the point right? Elon doesn't need to be or want to be president, he just needs to call one up and say "bitch, change this dumbass law or I pull the plug on your media and financing" and then w/e president he just called does the thing.

Why do the work and be public when you can brainfart an order at 7:30pm after dinner and 2 weeks later some gears roll in favor of your cocaine dream.

[–] a9cx34udP4ZZ0@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

“bitch, change this dumbass law or I pull the plug on your media and financing” and then w/e president he just called does the thing.

So he calls Putin and says his PAC needs another round of funding?

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 53 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sounds like something a secure man says.

Something something not a true king.

I really want to see a press conference were a journalist asks if he has cleared that with Elon. Or just ask him what Elon's opinion is on some random thing.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

And you'll never see it because journalists care way more about access to a politician than they do about truth. Doing that would just result in never being able to ask Trump a question again, and they know it, and act accordingly to their class.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 35 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Trump’s also disqualified from the office by the Constitution. The Supreme Court allowed it. They can allow Elon too.

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Not exactly the same comparison. This would be far more blatant capture for the Supreme Court. The natural born citizen requirement is much more cut and dry. There were still some non-partisan legal people who genuinely thought Trump shouldn't be disqualified (though many many disagreed with them)

The Supreme Court does pass on insane legal ideas sometimes even if they allow plenty of horrible stuff too. Like in 2023 in Moore v. Harper, they ruled 6-3 against the Independent state legislature theory. Though on the flip side their presidential immunity ruling was indeed insane

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 4 days ago

Not exactly the same, no; the point being that the court can pull the rug from under Trump who thinks the rules that don’t apply to him still somehow apply to Musk.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 42 points 4 days ago

you've heard of RINO and DINO, now meet the diaper-wearing, spray painted PINO.

Our media is so stupid. The world's richest man just bought the whole federal government and the MSM reaction is "Ooh, maybe there's gonna be drama!"

Sane-washing was the wrong word for what the media does with Trump. It's more like reality-TV-washing. It makes everything he does seem like a TV show that's not real, and they never talk to or about the real people who are harmed by poorly run government. When was the last time the MSM talked to or about the struggles of a homeless person, someone living in the ghetto, or an immigrant trapped in a broken system? But they talk to and about Elon Musk every fucking day. They've spoken more to Elon Musk about immigration than to all (other) immigrants combined.

The media isn't right-wing or left-wing, it's entertainment-wing. It's just a reality TV soap opera focused on characters and personalities, not informing people. We should stop pretending it's a source of information, the MSM is a source of entertainment.

This is why not everything should be profit-driven.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 38 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Bitch, he co-owns your stupid ass.

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 8 points 4 days ago

Kind of, right? No doubt Elon is a career criminal, just not charged. Yet. The greedy folk occasionally take their own down, too. If Elon isn't paranoid about that, he should be.

[–] cmoney@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago

Elon is to tRump like the Emperor was to Vader.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

LOL, it's working. Donvict is getting quite annoyed at doge dipshit stealing the spotlight....

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 4 days ago

The timer is running on Elon's time on the good list. His ass is going on Trump's naughty list eventually.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 14 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It’s been kinda obvious from the beginning that Elon Musk is Donald Trump’s Grand Vizier.

And we all know how THOSE stories go.

But who’s the poor street urchin inadvertently roped into the vizier’s evil schemes?

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 6 points 4 days ago

An evil grand vizier whispering into the ear of the already-evil king.

President Musk must be happy with his plaything :3

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

If Musk becomes Speaker of the House ... couldn't he ? Speaker Johnson offered him the job. The speaker doesn't need to be a congress member.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/mike-johnson-asked-elon-musk-if-he-wants-to-be-speaker-of-the-house/ar-AA1whA9C

And the speaker is in line to be president if Trump and Vance "happen" to die.

The U.S. Constitution and the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 outline the presidential order of succession. The line of succession of cabinet officers is in the order of their agencies’ creation.

  1. Vice President
  2. Speaker of the House

I mean Trump is obsessed with ignoring the Constitution to stay president until he dies. Why wouldn't that be used against him by Musk ?

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Not constitutionally no. He doesn't meet the requirement to be president which requires you to be born as a US citizen

Edit: also it seems like Johnson was moreso making a jab at musk in his comments about the difficulty of the job - rather than actually making him a genuine offer

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 4 points 4 days ago

The SC could just make a bullshit ruling that this only applies fo4 being elected president, rather than becoming president through succession.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I am aware of the born a US citizen requirement. Trump is also trying to get rid of naturalized citizenship.

But these guys are not big on rule following.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago

Trump is also trying to get rid of naturalized citizenship.

No, he's trying to get rid of birthright citizenship.

[–] MisterD@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

If musk becomes speaker, Trump and Vance should start to worry.

Trump will be 25a'd out of there very fast. Just you wait

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago

Succession only applies to people eligible to hold the office. So him being Speaker would be irrelevant. He'd just be skipped.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

How much money did President Musk pay Vice President Trunp to cover for him like that?

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

...but he's the superior businessman?

Thats how america works Mr trump. This was your idea.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Trumps presidency and "The Elon giveth, and the Elon taketh away" approach.

For the first time in my life, i agree with Trump; Musk isn't "going to be the president." Musk IS the president.

[–] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Maybe we could amend the constitution to allow all citizens the same exact rights including being able to become president?

That would be kind of cool.
