Relevant to your interests: As a straight, male mountain biker, I swear like three quarters of the cute women I meet and get interested in are lesbians. (And the other 25% are out biking with their husband, boyfriend, etc.)

That kind of thing happened to me in college turns out I'm just trans with a spot on gaydar

That's why I bring the cute women mountain biking, and then they complain when we have to bike up a hill...

Don't they all live in Lesbos?

ON Lesvos. It's an island.

it amazes me how people find partners outside of big cities

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 months ago (4 children)

How would one find a partner in a big city?

[–] NickwithaC@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Bars

Shared interest groups

Your friend introduced you

In that order

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

And I think specifically bars, not clubs. You won’t be able to have a conversation with someone in a club, though if you are stand out attractive, that probably doesn’t matter

You don't have to drink, it's just that's where people are.

Most big cities have dedicated places for finding a partner. For butch lesbians, it's Home Depot. For everyone else, try a bar maybe?

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

That also amazes me.

My friend actually met his husband at a speed dating event at a local video game bar called Battle and Brew. This was in metro Atlanta, which depending on where you live may it may not be considered a big city lol.

And if you live somewhere like New Zealand that little sliver doesn't exist either

[–] Sas@beehaw.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well shit I live in Germany and was very much considering fleeing to NZ if the right wing parties get any bigger and Russia gets closer to defeating Ukraine. I heard Auckland is one of the gayest cities in the world so that's where I was planning to go. Is it really that hard to find other lesbians over there?

[–] Jimbo@yiffit.net 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

You may have some luck in Auckland, it's population compared to everywhere else in NZ is much larger despite not being the capital. Outside of Auckland and Wellington you'll likely struggle. Don't come to the south island if you're looking for population density lol

[–] festnt@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

I kind of dread the day I stop being appealing to gay men and start being appealing to straight men. Well, less the latter, I doubt I'll ever pass so well as to be appealing to straight men... During the brief unfortunate time I was stupid enough to look for connections, I had 0 interest from women, the only interest I had was from a few strictly gay not bi men. I seriously doubt transitioning is making me more appealing to women, so I feel like I'm slowly removing my dating pool as I become someone I like more. Well, it's for the best anyways, dating/hooking up was a disaster and I should have known better then to try. (It's not a problem that women aren't interested in me, it's not something I'm upset about, it's also for the best given some brain bugs I have)

Sorry for trauma dumping in random places across Lemmy, it's just nice to get the thoughts out of my head and into text sometimes
