Eartha Kitt was on his list?! WTF did she do? I skimmed through her Wikipedia page, and the only thing I could see was that she was an activist in helping underprivileged inner city kids, and she called out politicians for not doing more to help them as part of that work.
Was Fred Rogers also on Nixon's list?
Eartha once called out Lady Bird Johnson and nearly lost her career.

I don't know the specifics of why Nixon thought Eartha Kitt was an 'enemy.
Nixon got his start as a Congressman on the House Un-American Activities Committee. He was doing the same thing as McCarthy was doing in the Senate, and as a California boy he was tuned into Hollywood.

Yes, it was a secret. He was considered America's Dad back then. Everyone thought he was wholesome, and funny, and the best kind of dude. That's why the revelation was so shocking.
Yes back then everyone SHOULD have had Bill Cosby on their enemy list! Yes his reputation was better but he still was a rapists back then.
Nobody knew that though. He was considered America's Dad, and the revelation of his raping was very shocking.
