Is it going to have the same, miserably zoomed-in camera as the first?

[–] mortbobort@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

I mean, If I can see the enemies before they one shot me from off screen am I really having fun?

[–] Steinsprut@szmer.info 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That camera plus the convoluted ability system based on weapon gems is why I never could get into PoE

And huge skill tree, this shit filters me hard

poe does have a steep learning curve, but once you have the basics it is very rewarding and gibes a lot of freedom

Well once you have the basics and buy all of the QoL improvements to make your experience not miserable.

Fair, but honestly, you don't have to spend a lot to get much higher quality of life than the buy-in for D4.

All PoE "1" microtransactions carry over to the next era of the game as well.

I think the gem skill system is one of the biggest things they are changing for PoE2 IIRC. its not linked to gear anymore or sth like that

My problem isn't even that, it's the cramped inventory space that you apparently have to pay to increase. Where's the fun in a looter game if you can't collect your loot?

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

that you apparently have to pay to increase

what? No. You can get stash tabs but the amount of loot you can take out of endgame zones is limited to 6 portals aka 6 inventory spaces, you don't pay for inventory space.

Where’s the fun in a looter game if you can’t collect your loot?

It's an ARPG, you collect what you need

You can get stash tabs

That's what I meant. The game felt very limiting without them compared to other ARPGs I've played.

endgame zones is limited to 6 portals aka 6 inventory spaces

Never got that far.

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Well, if you never got that far, you really don't need more than 4 tabs, it's not like the loot you will drop is worth keeping that much.

In any case, the way I see it is that you can drop 40ish euros when tabs are on sale (every 3 weeks there's a sale) (or drop 30/60 to get the same points with skins included idc) and get all you will ever need in terms of specialized stash tabs, which is less than what D4 costs, and similar to what D3+expansion+necromancer costs, quite the old game in comparison.

The way I see it, before dropping the 40ish euros to get the honestly quite necessary tabs for endgame, the game plays as a quite extensive free trial.

Also, idk which other ARPGs you have played, but I have not played any free ARPGs with unlimited stash space.

That was the most frustrating for sure. I could deal with the fact that it was literally an exact clone, down to the model of the health and mana globes. Or no "real" story, or cgi. Or a skill tree that was just ridiculous size.

But the inventory management. Fuck. The WHOLE game is about loot, and you are almost punished for collecting due to limitations of space. Couldn't deal with it.

Have you played Diablo 4 yet?

[–] Daisyifyoudo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I'm currently playing it right now
