SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Sea Turtle Inc. helped 190 sea turtles affected by the recent cold stun. The organization announced that with improving weather conditions and the affected sea turtle's health, they hope for a quick recovery and potential release.

According to the National Park Service, a cold-stunned sea turtle is one that has become hypothermic due to severe cold water or weather. If water temperatures drop below 50 degrees Fahrenheit a sea turtle can become lethargic and are unable to swim.

BRUSSELS, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Six European Union countries called on the European Commission to lower the $60 per barrel price cap put on Russian oil by G7 countries, arguing it would reduce Moscow's revenues to continue the war in Ukraine while not causing a market shock.

Almost 185 years later, Trevor Lithgow, a biochemist at Monash University, and a student in his charge visited that same lovely stream, bent down at its bank with an empty flask attached to a broom pole, and retrieved a double shot of water. They bundled the sample into a bag and drove it back to examine at their laboratory.

There, they mixed the sample with a culture of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a rod-shaped bacteria, prevalent in nature, and one that colonises human stomachs and lines our intestines. It forms snot-like colonies, gobbling up and fermenting lactose to fuel itself. Usually, Klebsiella is harmless.

But in certain situations, Klebsiella can establish itself outside the gut – and then it becomes a threat. “You would not want to have an infection that’s driven by Klebsiella,” Lithgow says.

Klebsiella is defined by the World Health Organization as a “priority pathogen”. Some prefer to call it a “superbug”. It’s a bacteria that poses a major threat to global health because some strains have evolved to evade our most potent drugs, in a process known as antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

An unreleased Atari 2600 prototype has been found on a backup tape from Atari's Coin-Op Division. The game, titled 'Fish', is now available for anyone to play and explore.

The filename of the game is simply listed as Fish. Little is known about who programmed it or how it ended up on a VAX system. The only available information is that the potential build date was December 22nd, 1983, although this could also be when the game was copied onto the backup system.

In terms of gameplay, 'Fish' is surprisingly simple. Players take control of a small fish and must eat various creatures on-screen to progress through different waves. However, bigger fish will often appear to try to swallow you. The challenge lies in eating as much while avoiding being devoured.

See the original article for links to the download and YouTube gameplay footage.

What do you think about the significance of such a find for retro gaming and our understanding of early game development?

First, this seemed to be the best community to place this. Second, this is an older article [February 2024] but it is very interesting nonetheless.

I want to get a head start on the technique d'informatique college course i am going to take next (school) year, and i figured comptia A+ is as good a place as any to start.

The title is self-explanatory, but i would like to add i would much prefer a book than a video. I am fine with paying for it, but then it would have to be physical. Video recommendations are also welcome though, because they could help anyone else who is asking themselves the same thing.

<>Mods, please remove this if it isn't open-ended enough

...the RX 9070 XT performs decently well, trading blows with the RTX 4070 Ti Super. In NVIDIA's favorite Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K with ray tracing, the RX 9070 XT managed 26 FPS, neck and neck with the RTX 4070 Ti, whereas the RTX 4080 Super was well ahead with 32 FPS.

In 1080p, the RX 9070 XT managed 85 FPS, whereas the RTX 4070 Ti edged past with 2 more frames. The RTX 4080 Super, unsurprisingly, was well ahead once again with 101 FPS. The RX 9070 XT appears far from promising in rasterization performance, as revealed by Black Myth: Wukong. At 4K, the RX 9070 XT managed around 30 FPS, defeating the 4070 Ti Super which managed 28. And at 1080p, the RX 9070 XT raked in 97 FPS, coming shockingly close to the 4080 Super, which managed 99 FPS.

David Lynch, the filmmaker celebrated for his uniquely dark vision in such movies as “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive” and the TV series “Twin Peaks,” has died just days before his 79th birthday.

His family announced the death in a Facebook post on Thursday. The cause of death and location was not immediately available, but Lynch had been public about his emphysema.

She ate something she shouldn't have and it's blocking her intestines. She has to have emergency surgery tomorrow morning and this is all my fault. If my house wasn't such a disaster, she wouldn't be in this mess.

I honestly don't deserve my pets because of this. I can hardly take care of myself. Idk why I thought pets were a good idea.

Joe Velaidum can't help but wonder what could have happened if he'd lingered outside his front door for just a couple of minutes longer before taking his dogs for a walk.

The timing of their departure that day last July proved lucky. Just seconds later, a meteorite would plummet onto the front walkway of Velaidum's home in Marshfield, Prince Edward Island, shattering on impact with a reverberating smack.

"The shocking thing for me is that I was standing right there a couple of minutes right before this impact," Velaidum told CBC News.

"If I'd have seen it, I probably would've been standing right there, so it probably would've ripped me in half."

NANCY BRIER: My name's Nancy Brier (ph). I have four properties. The biggest property that we have is six units. So, you know, really small-time landlords. We sort of know all of our tenants. You know, so I've been doing this for 30 years now and have really seen every kind of housing situation that you can think of.

LUIS EDWIN SANCHEZ: Luis Edwin Sanchez (ph), born and raised in San Francisco. I'm 62 years old, journeyman union carpenter, retired. I had to take early disability retirement a couple years ago and had a pretty decent life until I got hurt (laughter), and things changed dramatically. But, yeah, so I know what the people who are sleeping on the city streets in tents right now are going through because I've been there - three times. And I'm not happy to say that it's a very good possibility it may happen again. I'm currently on the Section 8 waitlist for a voucher. It'll probably take me another 10 years, if I live that long. I mention that because of how huge the need is.

BRIER: Can I say one quick thing? My last Section 8 tenant just moved, and that family was in this unit for nine years. And I'm very happy that we were able to provide them with nice housing for all that time. But I swear, when that family moved out, I could hear the angels singing. I have another tenant I've had for over 20 years. The piece of paper that we have with our rental agreement is one side of one page. And for the Section 8 family that we housed, I have boxes and boxes and boxes of papers. It was insane. So, you know, maybe the reason that you can't find a Section 8 house, which I wish you could, is because the system makes it too hard for somebody like me to give it to you.

Nancy, there is literally nothing stopping you from giving this injured homeless worker a place besides your own self interest.

Of course, American society will eat you alive if you don't relentlessly pursue your self interest almost all of the time and all of us are just one illness and a few years of bad luck from being where Luis is at, but let's just be honest about what the situation is here.

BRIER: If I could wave the magic wand, I would want the government to make renting housing less risky for small-time landlords. How can we provide housing that isn't crazy expensive?

And If I could wave a magic wand the government would take all of Nancy's non-residential properties from her and just start running them as free public housing with onsite social workers and maintenance technicians.

Also, they'd provide taxpayer funded nutrition support and education for anyone who wants it, including Nancy.

Summary

US companies exported 1.4 million tons of hazardous waste in 2022, nearly half of which went to Monterrey, Mexico.

Toxic substances from Zinc Nacional, a local recycling plant processing US steel dust, have polluted nearby homes, schools, and soil with lead, arsenic, and cadmium, exceeding US health thresholds by hundreds of times.

Experts call the waste trade "toxic colonialism," citing Mexico's weaker regulations and enforcement.

Residents report health issues, while the company claims compliance. Mexican authorities are investigating amid calls for stricter oversight and accountability.
