For anybody thinking this new game will be anything like XCOM prepare for disappointment.
Jake has previously said that he is leaving turn-based tactics games behind.
And his tweet announcing Midsummer even says "it's going to seem very different from what I've done before."
edit: There is some good news for turn-based tactics fans. Another studio founded by former XCOM devs is focusing on turn-based games.
I don't know that the Japanese game industry has had layoffs like the west has.
I'm reminded of the time Satoru Iwata cut his own salary to avoid layoffs at Nintendo.

I understand that death is a tough subject for some people. These sort of posts make me tear up too. But our beloved furry friends are not immortal. They all die eventually.
If this community can serve as a place to help people grieve when they lose their pets then I'd say it's worth making a few people uncomfortable.
