I went back to Voyager, which is a shame because I really like Sync and pay for the premium version. But yeah, it's completely unusable right now.

Hard to say. That study you linked mentions reductions in speed and crashes in the vicinity of the camera, which to me indicates that people are only slowing down because they know a camera is there. I suppose someone would have to do a study to see if speed cameras reduce speeds and crashes in areas where there aren't currently cameras, but have been in the past. Meaning that people are slowing down in areas where they think there might be cameras.

Don't you put that bad juju on Jimmy Carter

I think the sentiment against them stems from the fact that there are ways to reduce speeds without feeling like they're being used as a revenue stream.

Personally I like when there are warning signs saying "Speed camera in use ahead" since it has the effect of slowing down traffic and not feeling like a "gotcha" moment.

I wonder if they censor mentions of Lemmy or if all the people that left for Lemmy are gone and no one noticed. Like, why are people still there and putting up with more of Spez's bullshit? Do they not know they can just leave?

That is Trump's tactic, which worked wonders when debating against Biden. I was glad when Harris shut that shit down by basically saying "I told you he was going to spout a bunch of bullshit, anyway my point is..."

"If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope he likes enchiladas, because that’s what he’s getting."

I was a consultant for most of my career until recently where I switched to a salary employee.

This is seriously insane to me. I start getting paid as soon as my ass hits my chair. And when I was working in an office, it was as soon as my foot went in the door.

I can't imagine interacting with the public on behalf of a company without being paid for it. Wtf.

The Lemmy no poop challenge memes were when I realized this was where I belonged.

Orson Scott Card actually weighed in on a simple way to determine if something is fantasy or sci-fi since he writes both:

The difference between science fiction and fantasy…is simply this, science fiction has rivets, fantasy has trees.

There's an issue with posts not showing as read on newer instances of Lemmy.

I've been using Sync for Lemmy for a year or so, but very recently (within the last day or so) links have stopped showing as read when I click on them and then go back. I tested this with a lemmy.world account and don't have the same problem.

I saw a post saying sh.itjust.works was updating to Lemmy v19.5 a few days ago. I'm wondering if maybe it caused a problem or if it's just me having this issue.

Thanks

...and it isn't Denver. Has that ever happened before?

Americans are overwhelmingly in favor of reforming the Supreme Court along lines proposed by President Joe Biden, even as approval for the high court is marked by a sharp political divide, according to a new USA TODAY-Ipsos election year poll.

A large majority – 76% of Americans – support a binding code of conduct for the Supreme Court, according to the poll.

I love in Colorado, which is a pretty dry state, so while I had heard of "wet filament", I never considered it to be a problem that I would have to worry about. I had seen people creating dry storage bins for their filament, but figured that must just be for people in humid climates.

When I first bought my 3D printer a few years ago, I did what most people probably do - I bought a 10 pack of different filament colors. Everything printed great for a while, but eventually, my prints just started to kind of suck. I made a few upgrades to my printer, but still couldn't pinpoint what was going on. What was frustrating, is that some times my prints would be great - but other times I couldn't even print the most simple prints without problems.

I eventually noticed that my great prints were from newer filament that I had recently purchased, but my bad prints were coming from spools I've had sitting out for a while. So I purchased a $40 filament dryer on Amazon and it instantly fixed all the problems I'd been having.

I feel dumb, because I had gone through three different extruders, new hot ends, new nozzles, tubing, and spent tons of time cleaning and tightening stuff on my printer. I had left my printer untouched for months because it was just so frustrating. Something as simple as old filament left out never occurred to me until much later.

TLDR; If your prints have started to suck after a while, you might want to try drying your filament.
