AccuBattery. It was some door security app my company uses . I just took away background access.

I'm happy with my choice to upgrade...

The AI stuff is gimmicky of course but for basically questions Gemini is doing ok (quickly getting torque specs for bolts) will out in the garage seems improved over "assistant".

Battery life has been good after finding a stupid app that was running in the background killing it!!

Unexpected huge sunset while driving home tonight.

The sun didn't look real in person!

I disagree, most of these subscriptions options are all built in and "enabled" if bought. There ain't no car manufacturers looking to reduce their car prices for us. It's profit above everything

I've only experienced real issues when out of network coverage for a long time.

I make sure I download the areas I'll visit especially if the network coverage is spotty.

My Ford sync 3 amd my old Tundra with a Kenwood AA radio bot work fine out of service as long as I have the maps downloaded

I have a 2008 tundra a coworker just bought a new one so I asked for a ride. It was nice to see under the enormous center display, the HVAC controls!

I'm ok with a decent amount of tech in a car. Like I'm fine being able to connect my phone to the car and have android auto take over the infotainment system.

But the HVAC stuff needs to be buttons I can access/control without looking or very minimal looking.

I don't want/need my car to have a SIM card, or connect to wifi, and report what I'm doing. If they want to do that, then they can give me the car for free and I'll drive it around letting them collect my driving habits.

Edit: Oh, and I'm sure as hell not paying some subscription fee on top of the price of the car.

Well, to each his own... I should get $699 for my 8pro as trade-in and already got a $200 store credit. I've actually been waiting for the Pixel Buds Pro 2's and by going with the Pixel 9 I am getting $900 "off" those purchases.

[–] dmtalon@infosec.pub 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I only toggled it and saw no difference so I turned it back off. So far, the morning reboot fixed it, but I'll be monitoring it closely. I use my headphones a lot. Also Not sure how to turn 'off' the pixel buds. I'm sure there's a way to reboot them I'd just need to search.

I did go into developer settings last night and disabled the audio sync. "Disable absolute volume" and that didn't seem to change anything. (I did not try to raise the volume on my buds after I was at max on phone though)

I've never noticed this 'issue' before. However I realize I did just copy a bunch of crap to this phone, install updates, etc... I'm also having some weird tasker behavior where it is randomly crashing. That was actually the driver of the reboot this morning as I had updated/toggled some permissions that didn't seem to be sticking.

Responding to my own post... It was like midnight when I 'discovered' this, and this morning I decided to reboot my phone and then try again. The audio seems normal now. 🙄 I will be paying attention to this close now.

Wondering if there's any setting that adjusts the max volume (like night mode). I wish I had tried before rebooting, but I was just drinking my first cup of coffee haha.

Anyone here have a new 9? I wanted to listen to some music on my Pixel Buds Pro 1s and noticed the volume was quite low.

Looked around at various settings, but nothing weird. Swapping to my 8 and I get normal volume. Switching back, low again.

So, I never visit McDonald's. Oddly, I have managed to visit them twice this year. Once a month ago while traveling and it just worked out that it made the most sense when we stopped for fuel while traveling.

And second last night. We were at the lake late and coming home just before 9pm. Most non chain places were closing, and the only local spot open was McDonald's. Had the whole family including my visiting parents.

The experience was pretty awful. First, they had 3 employees in the building, and the expectation was that you use the Kiosk. I didn't have 'strong' opinions of having to use it vs. speaking to a human. However after ordering 4 meals on it, it is quite the nightmare for the casual visitor. Probably took 4x as long to order our food.

My parents took their order on a second Kiosk and were not even able to complete their order (Parents are in their mid 70s). Not sure what happened, I wasn't watching them. My dad was quite irritated at this point.

After asking one of the humans multiple times for help, he took their order at the register.

<insert 30 minute wait for food>

Our food was placed in their pickup area in bags with napkins (store napkin holder empty). Nearly every burger was overcooked and quite dry. Both my buns were hard. The fry's were luke warm and not very fresh. The meal for 2 adults and 2 14yos was $40 bux.

I saw a story on Lemmy last week about how McDonald's profits were down and the general consensus was that it was the over priced food. While I'm sure that has an impact I believe the Kiosk, slow 'fast food' and overall experience has to be a huge negative.

My parents were PISSED, and they are historically huge McD Patrons. At least in their case, the price will not be why they do not return. Its the awful experience.

Just got this email from Haier (US) who seems to be distancing themselves from the EU division's decision to block Home Assistance.

Hello , (I changed this)

Thank you for reaching out with your concern.

The Haier brand in the U.S. is independent of Haier Europe and operates separately. hOn is the connected IOT platform for Haier Europe. In the U.S., consumers can use our open IOT platform, SmartHQ. SmartHQ does not prevent integrations with Home Assistant.

We appreciate you reaching out.

Kindest regards,

Digital Engagement Team Haier Appliances

Noticed when we got home last night our outside lights were not on, but we have an automation to turn them on if we're gone after dark. Meant to check why, but forgot.

Logged into the companion app this morning to manually toggle a switch and saw Life360 integration was not connected and "requires reconfiguration"

reentering my password and trying to log in is not working. I tried removing and re-adding the integration but the problem remains. Now I cannot re-add the integration as it will not sign in.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Was hoping this would sort itself out, but after a couple weeks it's still there. Scrolling not always smooth, and swiping back from a post is always very studdery.

Wondering if others are experiencing this? Phone is 2 weeks old, came from a Pixel 7 Pro which didn't have this problem.

cross posting my own post here. Just realized there's two googlepixel communities. Just an FYI. Peak Design did acknowledge my email them, but no updates from them.

Have been using a P7P and PD case for quite a while now, we moved over to the PD ecosystem because we have both Android and Apple phones in the house and I wanted a way we could all just put our phones into a car mount and charge without having multiple wires.

I have an amazon dual charge wireless stand that is 'Made for Google' whatever that means. I use it to charge my P7P w/PD Every Day case, and my Pixel Buds.

I received my P8P PD Everyday case Monday, and yesterday I wanted to put it on the stand to charge it up a bit. Set it on there and after a bit noticed a red flashing light. It was NOT charging the phone. Tried placing it again, same issue.

As it turn out, the P8P case must have changed enough to cause some issues.

P7P + PD Case works fine P8P Naked works fine P8P + $13 amazon magsafe TPU case works fine P8P + PD case does not work.

I sent them an email yesterday with details, but buyer beware.

*Edit: One other thing about the PD case, is the camera bump protection (lip that is taller than the camera) seems like it's smaller. The P7P lip isn't huge, but the amazon TPU case covered a large part of the bump completely which would create a lot more protection. *

Stand:

Amazon case that works with stand.

I normally don't upgrade to the next series, but with trade-in,and pixel watch 2 deal I decided why not

While I didn't particularly love the curved P7P screen it did give you more desktop real estate. The 8s screen feels a tad squished in. Everything on screen is a bit smaller. I don't hate that but it's a surprise.

I just got my Peak Design case so I can use my PD mounts (motorcycle primarily). The case seems decent however, much like my opinion of the P7P case, I think it could use slightly more lip to protect the screen and camera bump. The screen lip is probably fine if you don't run a glass screen protector, adding that thickness really reduces the lip.

Otherwise, I have only really spent time setting it up, not much time using it yet :).
