I'm not sure if it's the meme but here (Europe) there is a huge difference in price between the basic 512GB OLED SD and the basic PS5 pro option.

569€ vs 800€.

FF16 in quality mode runs at 1440p 30 FPS locked upscaled to 4K. And it decreases resolution sometimes in my experience while playing it.

And in performance mode runs at 1080p targeting 60 FPS. The lower resolution it's very noticeable.

Both modes can be improved by better hardware. That's my point.

Now things like "30 FPS locked, sucks" or performance mode targeting 1080p is not enough quality is just my personal opinion. Of course some people enjoy 30 FPS or 1080p on a 4K big TV. I personally try to avoid 30 fps locks OR very low resolution performance modes. Games like GT7 or Warzone that can handle lot of FPS at a high resolution (on the current PS5 hardware) are the ones I don't complain at all and truly enjoy. And in those 2 games I wouldn't care about upgrading to better PS hardware.

FF16. I'm talking about running quality mode (which still doesn't guarantee native 4K it does upscaling lot of the time) at higher FPS than 30 with a better PS5 Pro hardware.

Yeah but some games like Final Fantasy run at 30 FPS capped and they suck.

They should start moving those games from fixed 30 FPS to a higher FPS. Doesn't even need to be fixed 60 FPS. If they enable VRR between 30 and 60/120 they will massively improve the experience.

I understand that some TVs can run VRR down to 20 or 30Hz.

I didn't know about these manuals. Awesome!

Honestly I prefer this to Microsoft Edge stealing (importing) all my chrome passwords and bookmarks without my consent. Something they do from time to time.

The country is already lost, owned by the people in power.

Only the locals can overthrow them from the power now. And not with elections.

It is very important to get rid of these kind of governments (that manages the country with the only objective to stay in power) as soon as possible.

After Microsoft Edge decided to import all my chrome passwords and data I decided to get rid of windows as much as possible.

Every time I get it (like once every 2-3 years) for me it's never with diarrhea.

Just agonizing with a lot of vomits, fever, congestion, coughing, muscle pain etc.

They should do it like on consoles, reduce the graphics to guarantee stable FPS on resource intensive moments (like combat).

Although, on PS5 they apply a lot of variable rate shading mixed with upscaling/FSR. VRS is something I don't really like but it the drop is minimal it's ok.

I think that upgrading it with just 22% faster processor is kind of killing it.

The current CCWGTV performance sucks.

[–] amenotef@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The CCWGTV performance is a shit at 4K. The UI is far from smooth, some UHD shows randomly drop frames and sometimes I have to restart the device because Netflix and prime stop working.

Eventually I'll replace it, if the new device sucks I might try apple TV.

I mean it's a tiny device after all.

I also now have an HDR 4K 144Hz VRR OLED TV so it would be nice to get a device that supports this max resolution (like the PS5).

I can't make 7 days to die work with VRR (FreeSync).

Any reason it is not working?

Game is native linux, game has 2 engines (GLCore and Vulkan). I use GLCore because Vulkan I think it's beta and crashes. Game also has some launcher.

OS: Ubuntu 23.04, running it with Xorg. VRR works in other games (like games running with Proton).

Thanks in advance

Edit: nevermind. I installed Plasma Wayland and VRR works out of the box. I'll use plasma while playing this game. And go back to gnome for other games.

I'm still interested in making VRR work in gnome for this game. But workaround is found.

App battery usage > "Restricted" does not work well with some apps.

Apps like Instagram, TikTok, etc, even if the background usage is restricted they still consume battery on background. And I don't need to receive any kind of notification from them until I open them.

Because of this I ended up uninstalling them and now I use Chrome. But the mobile web experience is much worse at least for Instagram.

Edit: some user recommended me "Ice Box" app to freeze apps in the background. I'm testing it and looks nice!

Example: I edit a post saying "Hello", i save it as "Hi" Then I open the edit menu again and it stills shows "Hello".

(The edit is saved in background but the app still has the old version loaded locally).

Is this possible or will hurt the performance, battery and memory in a way that it will be horrible? I'm not experienced with webapk apps.

I'd add it as a toggle so it is optional.

Reason: When scrolling (doesn't need to be an aggressive/long scrolling) I see a lot of stuff drawing. Since stuff loads very fast this would be more a visual improvement over a functional one.
