In the traditional meaning of the words, all Republicans and Democrats are conservative liberals. Does that seem like an oxymoron? It's not, we've just twisted the word liberal to mean not conservative in the US. Progressive is a much better word for people who are against the conservative agenda.

These people don't understand long term thinking. Cutting Medicaid will stop the poorest Americans from getting preventative care. This will massively increase the cost to the country when they have to go to the emergency room to try to save their life later on. Our taxes will pay those exorbitant bills.

I read that for every dollar in funding, the IRS brings in five dollars. But it's long term, so it's impossible for these fuckers to comprehend.

When that shit popped off last time there were restaurants putting signs outside saying "We proudly serve freedom fries" where I live in a deep red state. Made it easy to pick who to boycott.

Hey there I look like a cop and there's not much I can do about it as a bald white guy. I hate it actually. I walked into a head shop recently and was greeted "Hello Officer".

I take all three. It wouldn't be funny to see people try to haul me off to a slave camp, that's what I originally typed. Let's just say they'd get new piercings for free.

I used them once to get from Tampa to Miami. It was fine. We got there over an hour late. I wouldn't really want to take a longer trip.

I'd just like to note here that RFK's definition of addicts includes people on antidepressants and ADHD medication.

He's the richest man on earth. He probably has people moving product just for his consumption and distribution. There's no way all he uses is K. People at the billionaire level probably take drugs plebians have never heard of.

Interesting. I stayed in Brooklyn for four months a few years ago for work, and spent time in Manhattan and Queens. I saw far fewer people saggin there than in the small city in a red state I come from. I do agree the differences are smaller in the latter of the two timeframes you mention.

Feminism has always been egalitarianism. There will always be people co-opting terms and movements for negative reasons. If men see feminism as something different that's on them to educate themselves. Women never achieved equity and now (in the US) we are backsliding as a country.

I hear you but I have to disagree on fashion. Check out what the teenagers and 20 somethings are wearing in cities. There was also a racial divide in fashion and music when I was growing up that seems to be gone. Today you can spot a white kid wearing an ODB shirt and a black kid wearing a Nirvana shirt. Most of the "rules" are gone outside of work. I'm in my 40s and one day I might dress punk and the next I might have a more hip hop look. I can wear things that would have someone questioning my sexuality a decade ago and now it's normal for a straight person. It's fun and freeing.

I tried to phrase that last bit so I didn't come off as a homophobe but I'm done messing with it.

I once saw a group of about 15 elderly men having a get together in a Wendy's. This was in a very small town. I didn't speak to them but I got the feeling it was a regular thing. They were all very friendly with each other. Rather than a conference room, maybe it is more to attract groups like that.
