When I left my old workplace my colleagues organized a good-bye meal together. Standard office job, with regular guys. We had a great relationship and they knew I was vegetarian for 5+ years at that point and never had any issue with it.

So they asked which restaurant I would like to go and I was stupid enough to let them choose.

We ended up in a specialized Brazilian meat restaurant, where the servers go around with absurdly large pieces of grilled/fryed meats and would carve a piece to the guests. If you are a meat lover you can have easily 10-15 types of meats in a couple of hours.

Those assholes had a huge grin on their faces all evening, as I could only eat the sides from the buffet and had to refuse all meals from the servers about 12 time that evening. It was a truly memorable night, we even got drunk and laughed our asses off on our way home.

So yeah, not just kids can be assholes. We are still in contact till this day.

If they were classmates this info would be common knowledge after a few meals together.

Case + quality screen protector on day 1. For me its weird to hold a phone without a case. Especially some high-end device, which costs a fortune.

Unless your kink is failure and incompetence I would not recommend

Does it give you multiple options for a route? Like fastest/using least petrol/no tolls, etc?

I am currently using Google maps and waze most of the time and tried Organic maps for a while for a more privacy focused option, but it only gives you one option, no alternatives of similar length/time.

Edit: nevermind, just downloaded it and it does offer alternatives. Looking good as well, will definitely test it, thank you!

Is this where everyone was clapping on the bus?

Same with IKEA, even though you can look up the exact box sizes online there are still people trying to fit sofas into a Fiat 500.

Agree, also the franchise fatigue is strong with this one.

Nebraska will have the best pizza. It's-a great news!

This is just to share my experience with everyone, especially the people still undecided.

I was planning the switch for months, and finally had a couple hours undisturbed from the wife and the kids :)

It was a slightly rocky start, as my USB wifi receiver did not have native drivers, but with wired internet and the official Mint tutorial the rest of the transition was super smooth.

The OS install went flawlessly and within an hour I had all the basic programs, browser and utilities up and running. I love that I just download the app from the dedicated place, no pointless web surfing for the latest versions.

I backed up my steam folder (with the rest of my files of course), so after installing the steam client and some quick synchronization I had my installed games library back in minutes. I did some testing and everything works great. As I own a steam deck I already had some experience with games not running natively on Linux, but a saw many great tutorials for beginners. I cant wait to test out some more games!

Edit: thank you for all the positivity and great feedback! I know Lemmy users love Linux and I have to admit I feel a little bit more included :D

Who knows, maybe I will start warching Star Trek next...

I'm getting an android tablet soon (will be a present and a little birdie told it to me). Nothing fancy, just some mid-range 10 inch one with basic features. I'm planning to mainly use it for comic books, but while I'm at it might as well watch movies on it.

So my question is: any good setup/apps/guides for movie streaming or downloading I should know about? I don't have a home server, or anything, usually just torrent what I want on my desktop PC and watch it there, but I have zero experience with pirating movies on android.

I will definitely not use the tablet for social media, google services, etc so I can do with it whatever I want, it's purely for comics/ebooks/movies.

Most likely a repost of a repost from 5 orher platforms but I love how quickly Lemmy become my favourite place and would like to contribute!

Hi Lemmings!

I have my Deck since March 2022. I was one of the fortunate ones to receive it quite soon.

Lately I noticed two things: The right joysticks movement is not as smooth as it was before and sometimes it makes a creaking noise.

The "A" button lost some of its resistance and become super sensitive in some games registering twice per button push. For example in a text heavy game I often skip dialogues because of this.

The device is in a perfect working order, no abuse, no damage, screen protector since day 1, protective skin applied, etc.

My question: Should I contact Valve and ask for a repair..

...or maybe try to get some nice replacement parts and upgrade the buttons and joysticks?

How does the available replacements compare to original parts? Are they an improvement? Or should I go the safe route and let Valve repair it for me?

First of all love the app, its my daily driver now for Lemmy!

I was wondering if you could favourite or "star" communities in the list so they would always show on top of the list? I love to check my feed but also I like to daily browse specific communities. It would help a lot, especially with my growing number of communities subbed.

Many thanks and keep up the great work!
