I like that they also tackled having a new device not having a charger by default, so people don't end up with a million of the same charger

Yes please. My phone has USB-C since 2016...

In June 2009, phone manufacturers agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU), agreeing to harmonise chargers for new models of data-enabled handsets, coming onto the market as of 2011.

Apple should be slapped, they are always the culprit here. Can we have something that will perpetuate this time? :D

True, we could have stick with micro USB as well... but I always needed 3 attempts to plug the damn thing :D

The thing is that Apple is always breaking out with their own "standard" that is not better then the more "standard" (USB) one I guess.

For me the micro USB connectors always broke and every time this did not make me charge the battery well.

You can easily install a different OS on your computer. You can't just start using a different type of charger for a device. Apples and oranges.

You can choose to use an adapter. You can choose to buy a non-apple product. So yes, you can use whatever charger you want.

If there are 4-5 different types of plug that people use, let's say I need to charge my phone and want to borrow a charger from someone. I have to carry around 4-5 different adapters for whatever a willing person to help me might have. I don't even have a single adapter because one is too much to carry around at all times. Thank God USB and power outlets are standard, otherwise I would need to have like 15 adapters at all times.

If they would it would only be a good path, it is anticompetitive what Apple is doing.

How is Apple anticompetitive? Apple makes less than 20% of computers and about a third of mobile devices. I.e., their competition is doing just fine.

20% (your estimate) is a percentage with a good market share that can be considered impactful, currently users if they want to switch to an iPhone they must also have the other Apple products since they can't use them with Windows normally without relying on third party programs to be able to transfer files in peace (stupid example). I myself own Apple devices and currently it's a bit of an ordeal if I want to use them with my Windows/Linux workstation, I'd also like to freely install Linux (luckily there is the community working to make it compatible) on a MacBook with M1 because it's a fantastic machine and I recognize the good work they did. This is all called "limiting competition" and thus keeping users as loyal as possible, and at the end of the day it really does impact the environment and the end consumer as well. At least that's my opinion, so amen to that.
