Former president Donald Trump pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that he conspired to overturn the results of the 2020 election, appearing in the federal courthouse that sits just blocks away from where his angry supporters stormed the Capitol building in an effort to keep him in power.

Not surprising at all. Has the man admitted to anything ever in his life?

[–] Joemc72@lemmy.world 88 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He’s admitted to totally wanting to bone his teenage daughter…

[–] chaogomu@kbin.social 44 points 1 year ago

And told little girls that he would be dating them in 10 years.

I believe there was also some bragging about walking in on teenage beauty pageant contestants.

[–] Kushan@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That was just locker room predatory incestuous paedophilia.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 15 points 1 year ago

This above all is why every trumper dipshit can F right off with their "pedos!" attack line. They go right to that and being so concerned for their daughters if you call them out on book banning, and they've got MAGA TRUMP2024 all over them. Like really?

[–] Acronymesis@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

What a terrible day to know how to read. :(

[–] Elderos@lemmings.world 22 points 1 year ago

He has admitted grabbing them by the pussy. (when you're a star they let you do it)

[–] cassetti@kbin.social 20 points 1 year ago

“I’ve known Jeff [Epstein] for 15 years. Terrific guy, He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

[–] qisope@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

well, despite the risk of sounding boastful, he was willing to admit to being the best and most amazing at everything ever.

The sites around Washington D.C. are interesting today.

[–] YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world 51 points 1 year ago

The balloons are a personal favorite.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 9 points 1 year ago

I'm assuming that the red shirt guy's sign does not actually say something like "Make America's Penis Short Again", but that's how I'm reading it.

[–] StinkySnork@kbin.social 46 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Of course he did. He'll want a trial which will both stretch out the process towards the election, and give him the chance to put on a show for his throng.

I hope he ends up in a cell to minimize any further damage.

[–] RedAggroBest@lemmy.world 38 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No cameras in fed courtrooms is a blessing and a curse. He can't treat the room like a stage, but he can say anything he wants about what happened in the courtroom because his base won't read.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 year ago

It's not like they acknowledge video evidence either anyways

[–] chaogomu@kbin.social 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The thing is, he can say what he wants out of the courtroom, but what is said in the courtroom matters most.

So far, his lawyers seem to be putting together a TV legal defense. As in, it meant to win over TV audiences, but won't do jack shit in a courtroom.

[–] InternetUser2012@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"And I told the judge I'm a very stable genius with very smart friends and I'm not guilty, it's as simple as that. And the judge laughed and said they know, we should go out for a big mac after this" And cult45 cheeers

[–] chaogomu@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sadly, it's more likely that Trump will claim that the Judge is deep state and then do some stochastic terrorism.

Depending on how that goes, Trump might end up waiting in jail for the trial to commence...

[–] SheeEttin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I get a lot of political spam emails. You best believe that they're full of fiery rhetoric. They're not calling for violence, or anything but campaign donations, but they are certainly full of "deep state", "fake news", "election interference", "unjust indictment", etc.

[–] Eufalconimorph@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Eh, if he goes to prison but still gets enough electoral votes he can still be president. Being a felon is not a bar to running for president, just to voting for one. So a TV defense is quite possibly all he'll need.

[–] chaogomu@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Except if he goes to prison for attempting to overthrow the US government, then the 14th amendment applies, and he cannot legally hold any office, or even be listed on the ballot.

Yes, if the January 6th charges stick that applies. But just going to prison isn't enough, and not all of the charges are directly insurrection-related. I'm hopeful it will apply, but I'm not going to count on it! I'm still voting against him, even though I live in NY so the chances he wins my state's electoral votes are quite low.

[–] Arsenal4ever@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Trump the candidate and Trump the defendant have different goals.

Trump the candidate will explain this is the deep state Biden admin curtailing his free speech.

Trump the defendant will have to defend himself from charges that aren't related to free speech. So my guess is he'll let them find him guilty (good for Trump the candidate) and hope that all the elections staff quitting means his people will get in and fix it for him.

[–] raef@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

As long as he doesn't put on a show in his thong

[–] Jakdracula@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It’s like he can walk out on the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and still get elected.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

Hey, good on him for being honest about that one at least

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol someone please perp walk him for my amusement.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 8 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Looking forward to the GA indictment where they say he'll get a mugshot taken. Not sure if that's changed or not.

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Sadly, it probably doesn't matter what law is on the books about it. It's a southern red state, and like it or not he is a former president and a white man of influence.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat is on record, even with Fox News today, saying that unless someone tells him different, if locally arraigned Trump will have his fingerprints and mugshot taken, so there’s a tiny amount of hope there.

edit: and why would it be a problem anyway? Apparently he got arrested today for his supporters, so he can go that extra mile and get a mugshot for them too.

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Are mugshots public record in Fulton County? In many places they are not released unless the person is on the lam and there's a need to release a recent image.

I have to admire the composure of the judge who did not bust out laughing when he said it.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Would you expect anything else from a pathological liar?

[–] sci@feddit.nl 3 points 1 year ago

what happend to stop the count

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Add this to his pile of lies.

[–] demvoter@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, well, he lies.
