/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

You can literally reverse these pictures once you are over the age of thirty.

In my 20s currently. I only got socks and underwear and I am very pleased about it.

Good quality socks as a gift is awesome.

You wouldn't spend €20 on a pair yourself. But that is totally inside a gift budget.

The only gift I got was my dog puking on my comforter at 5am. I'd cry tears of gratitude if someone bought me socks.

Update: My HOA president left a baggie of dog treats at my door, addressed to my dog from her dog. He loved them and is now passed out in front of the fireplace. ❤️ Merry Christmas all!

Unpopular opinion: receiving Spocks is awesome! 😎

Oh, is that not what it was? Well, I'm sure the "socks" are fine too! 😜

What's wrong with socks? I got several new ones today, shit's awesome.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Sad story about her mental health. Hope she's doing better.

Alpaca or wool socks are some of the best gifts you can get!

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I bought myself 2 pair of alpaca wool socks and it was like low grit sandpaper on my heels.

But then again that's my own fault for buying them on amazon

[–] Atrichum@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Odd, guess theres a lot of variability to such things. I have an alpaca hoodie which is a bit scruffy but I wouldn't describe it as sandpaper at all. My alpaca socks are some of the softest things I've ever touched.

hats off for not using jennifer lien's actual 'after' photo

[–] Kitathalla@lemy.lol 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I got 15 pairs of socks this morning. It was a pretty good haul!

[–] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I had to tell people stop getting me socks when I filled a second sock drawer

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I buy all my own socks, so I only have one kind of white sock and one kind of black sock. I do this so putting away the laundry feels a lot easier for me. I was getting a little overwhelmed before with searching for each sock's mate every week.

[–] Pixlbabble@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But were they a wool blend? Because then I'm not that mad these days lol.

That's the good stuff lol.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 month ago

Reminder, Kes is only like 2, at that age, getting only socks would suck.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

Merry Crisis!

I would be happy if they were programming socks :3

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 1 month ago

In my defense, I was gifting slipper socks.

[–] oleorun@real.lemmy.fan 4 points 1 month ago

I'd love some Bombas.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Ain't nobody better give me socks. No way am I using those foot prisons.

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 5 points 1 month ago

Socks are like little blankies for my feets.

True story. It took me a couple of hours to settle into the the realization that yes that was the gift and no there wasn't something puny or extra coming my way. That was just it. Socks.

From one of the few people who know ne best and could've gotten me anything.

Still not sure if there's and what's the message behind the socks.

[–] m4xie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago

I would love some socks without holes in! Or only little holes.

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I personally am very happy with my socks and a pillow! (Programming socks would have been cool too though)

[–] GhiLA@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

We did elfster this year. I equate it to spending $50 on someone else, but getting $50 worth of stuff I needed.
