In order to counter reddit's attempt at engagement with r/place, the admins on Lemmy.world have asked me, Lemmy's only real celebrity, to be the top moderator of the newly reopened !android@lemmy.world.

Being a long-time participant of this community before its sudden closure, and needing something to do during the strike after the movie promotion is over, I accepted.

We have a new set of rules which should look familiar to you at this point. So, just as a member of this community with more responsibility, let's chat about the new rules here.

Because ultimately, this community belongs to YOU, the wonderful people of Lemmy.world, not me or anyone else.

Lemmy has celebrities now? What? πŸ€”

Edit: Just searched the name, sorry didn't learn of your existence till now. πŸ˜…

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The real one? You mean you have a clone? πŸ˜†

So cool to see you on here!

Androids got me confused twice.

Maybe this can be a Android page about how Margot Robbie uses Android, what Android phone best suits Margot Robbie, what Android accessories Margot Robbie prefers, etc.

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I give my two cents here, but my opinion really is just that, opinion, no more or less valid than yours.

Everybody wants different things for Android, so let's talk about it here.

But what does Margot Robbie want. Especially after the opening of Barbie.

To finally win my Oscaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr

No. I'm on strike. New song lyric is at the bottom of the sidebar.

I am literally right here.

Good. The lemdroid instance is run by the subreddit mods, and they're toxic as hell.

For what it's worth, !android@lemmy.ml never closed.

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Are there any toxic behavior from them in particular that you would like to talk about?

I mean, besides the obvious one, of course.

[–] phamanhvu01@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (5 children)

I haven't noticed any toxicity on the lemdro.id instance at all, what am I missing lol?

Not OP, but personally I found their level of micromanagement a bit offputting, such as their deletion of every support-adjacent post.

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I don't think that's a problem here since the ranking algorithm is different and things are a lot slower. We'll see how it goes.

[–] ijeff@lemdro.id 3 points 1 year ago

Hi again! I just wanted to offer again to look into things for you because if you were indeed banned for being critical of Samsung, that’s a problem. All I could find from the modlog was a /u/JshKlsn that was temporary banned for a week for being rude to folks on /r/android by a mod who doesn’t use Samsung devices. I know you’ve said that wasn’t your account. I’d be happy to look into a different one for you as this truly has me confused πŸ™.

Oh, also, before I forget, we will be running a community icon/banner contest next weekend. So, get your stylus and Stable Diffusion models ready to get a head start.

I would say 256x256 is good for the icon, can be bigger or smaller, but has to be square. Current icon is decent though, it's fresh and cute, so you can vote to keep it as is.

For the banner, let's do 1280x400.

Is there any change in moderation policy compared to lemdro.id?

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Oh, I never really intended for this place to be a replica of the old place. This place was built up organically to be something different, so let's figure it out together.

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It's very different. I based the current set of community policy on NSQ's, first innovated by our newly promoted admin and my co-moderator here.

I've never liked the idea of having too many bots running around, so I would like to have the least number of bots here as possible. It should just be a place for us to talk about Android and have fun.

I also don't really like clickbait and spam, so I took an extra step in the rules to prevent it.

[–] ThEgg@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm confused. Why did the merge not happen?

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Because the community here did not want it to happen.
