One suggestion:

Bring in the national guard fully armed and blast the shit out of any rogue militia people threatening the lives of FEMA workers.

In Minecraft of course...

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 12 points 3 weeks ago

Why in Minecraft? I encourage the find out portion of this kind of fucking around. The law exists so that no group may cause another to suffer, and vice versa.

More terrorism brought on by Republican talking points.

The core of this nonsense is the conservative frustration that the hurricanes may not hurt the incumbent party. The worst hit areas (Northern Florida, Eastern Georgia, and Western North Carolina) were in the bag for Trump anyway, dashing the hopes of those who were looking for the next Andrew or Katrina. And make no mistake, the damage and suffering visited upon conservative Americans is no concern to the people who think this way. (many of whom have nothing but contempt for rural people in private)

Someone please tell me this isn't happening.

[–] citrusface@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I could tell you, but that won't make it any less true.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Can we please discover a Stargate or something?

[–] cranakis@reddthat.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

I have "benevolent extra terrestrial intervention" top on my list of improbable things to wish for.

You want a snake in your head?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Would it get me universal healthcare?

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 1 points 3 weeks ago

Better, you can just get in your sarcophagus and have all your health problems fixed in a couple hours... except for the inevitable psychosis.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Didn’t they move* the snakes to the abdomen in the show?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

The whole Goa'uld 'snake alien' thing wasn't even in the movie. Ra was just an alien in human disguise.

This was Ra's true form in the movie. You only see it for a moment at the end:

Also, have you noticed that they all speak English on all of those different planets?

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Did you notice that they go plainly out into these new worlds with no care for germs, what’s so ever? Like, holy fuck. At least the Prometheus movies ‘kind of’ made a point about it in the second one with the mushroom cloud in the beginning.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You could lampshade it by saying that the stargates clear them of dangerous pathogens.

To be fair, you'd pretty much need that to have a multi-planetary stargate system.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I mean, they really jumped the shark when they proved that the stargates kept copies of you in their cache, that they accessed that one time to bring back someone who didn’t make it through the wormhole before it accidentally shut down mid flight. with that being the case, 1… the data already arrived so why didn’t he come out before it shut down… and 2, free cloning technology that we completely ignored the significance of.

But, hey, they did dumb stuff like that all the time.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yup, and later in the series they connect one Stargate to every other gate in the galaxy at the same time... so if you can do that, what happens if a person goes through it? Do they exit through all gates simultaneously?

1… the data already arrived so why didn’t he come out before it shut down…

I think they do address this in the episode - the problem was that the Stargate program built their own dialing computer because they didn't have the original DHD, which is more sophisticated. I think they literally say that if they'd had a real DHD the problem would never have happened.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

In fairness, they do the language barrier thing in a few of the earlier episodes, but it's a TV show. It would get very tedious if they did that every episode.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

And they would have to have a new language for every planet and Daniel would just be constantly translating.

But they could have at least thrown the fans a bone. Oh well.

I don't know, it seems pretty half-baked to me.
