Hey Russia, you're now on the terrorist list yourself!

Someone is desperate for weapons and warm bodies...

It obviously reeks of desperation. Would Taliban forget how Putin was friendly with the West, and allowed US through their airspace in order to invade Afghanistan in 2002?

And Taliban initially denounced the 2022 invasion.

But since then their leaders were invited into Russia several times (while being on the list) and stroke some deals it seems.

"stroke some deal".

Heh.

They're too busy for international terrorism now they're running the country. They only have time for domestic.

Am I supposed to be surprised?

[–] ramble81@lemm.ee 4 points 1 month ago

What are they expecting? “Oh, we’re off the list now? Yeah, we cool.”

That's right, the Taliban are gentle folk that only want to keep control of their women's bodies and would like to kill you all infidels....but you know, gently. Yeah they used to do harsh things like un announced suddenly disassembly of all vicinity including other people, pets, homes, places and vehicles. However, now they have a few new rules including the world first countdown! That's right, no more sudden violence. They will let you know with plenty of time when they will press the trigger, pull the chord, press the button, call the cellphone or pager etc. you will know it! They also too the opposite stance on beheadings. The new Taliban or Neotaliban will not warn anyone before headostomy surgery. They found that people generally don't like that. So general anesthesia will be applied to the area. It's now a very simple procedure. Anyway, they're great people.

https://www.politico.eu/article/russia-remove-taliban-terrorist-list-vladimir-putin-envoy-zamir-kamulov/

Russia's foreign ministry and security service "are putting finishing legal touches" on the removal, said Kamulov, adding that the final decision will "hopefully" be announced soon.

"We once again appeal to Western countries with an urgent call to acknowledge responsibility for the post-conflict reconstruction of Afghanistan, lift sanctions restrictions, and return Kabul's appropriated assets," he said during the opening remarks of the meeting, where Taliban's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi had also been present.

Russia has slowly been normalizing relations with the Taliban after it seized power in Afghanistan in 2021 following the withdrawal of the U.S. forces after 20 years of war. Since then, the Taliban has imposed harsh restrictive laws on women in particular, including banning them from speaking in public.

No international government has recognized the Taliban administration, but China and United Arab Emirates have accepted its ambassadors in their capitals.
