Glad it's finally here. I hope the Linux client will follow soon.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, but I'm also waiting for the Linux client.

Windows > macOS > Linux, they said that was the order of priority, and would soon be starting a closed beta for the mac client.

The only thing that made me a little nervous for the Linux client was that it didn't really sound like it was currently being worked on, and they also need to improve on the existing mobile client for them to work with the desktop clients.

I was just hoping they would integrate it into Proton Bridge for linux. Essentially exposing the volume and let linux users decide how they want to handle the syncing. It seems like that would be relatively easy to implement and most linux users are tech savvy enough to setup syncing for how they want it.

Looking at the pricing the 3tb family package actually seems fairly reasonable considering what you get. Which appears to be every service Proton offers and 3tb of cloud storage.

I don’t think I’d need the 3TB option but seeing the Unlimited plan which has 500GB at just shy of £200 for two years, sounds like a lot but once done it’s out the way for ages.

I’m actually really excited about this as I try my best to use the app on my devices but it’ll be nice to be able to sync on desktop easier. ^^

I'm so jealous, as a mac user

But when it arrives on macOS it will look better in finder 😅🤷🏼

What's still missing is an automatic upload function for specific folders (pictures, backups, ...) from my Android phone. Then I would consider switching from Google Drive (I'm currently using an app called DriveSync for that).

[–] CrackaAssCracka@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I'd love to switch too since I use proton mail and their VPN but the auto sync option on Android using Pcloud and AutoSync is a necessity for me. If they can get added to AutoSync, that'd be great but not sure if it's feasible. I'd switch instantly if it was.

I've been waiting for this!

Are Proton finally going to make native apps for it's whole suite?
