”Whether you're eating curry at your dinner table or fried chicken, things have gotten more expensive thanks to [Kamala Harris'] policies”

Really? So it’s just a coincidence that you also mentioned curry? C’maaan

[–] ultranaut@lemmy.world 45 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Vance is referencing curry because Laura Loomer recently said the White House will smell like curry if Harris wins.

[–] ABCDE@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Isn't Vance's partner of South Asian heritage?

[–] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes, but I doubt a woman who married Vance has any scruples or empathy for even her own people

[–] Trae@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I have a distant family member that illegally entered the US with her young child and used a stolen SSN and identity early on to gain employment.

Now that she's got her green card, she's fully in the "fuck everyone else, I got mine" camp. She cries about illegal immigrants and crime from people coming from her home country.

It's legitimately insane to watch someone absolutely stop giving a fuck because they've got fiscal safety and security because they broke all the same laws during a democratic administration that was helping Latino immigrants.

Conservatism is an international disease.

[–] Mbourgon@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

“Obviously she’s not a white person…but I love Usha, she’s such a good mom.”

[–] Trae@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Why can't he just say "one of the good ones" and rip the band aid off.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 10 points 2 months ago

Yep. But he's a republican politician - he still to be publicly racist even if it means insulting his partner's heritage. That's the job.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Shay Dee Vance fancies himself as a wit.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 106 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And Trump denies he said “suckers and losers”. The “party of personal responsibility” never takes responsibility for any of their actions or rhetoric.

[–] blackluster117@possumpat.io 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I've seen well-decorated military personnel praise Trump and his presidency. I lose respect for them, and I'll never understand it. Why, why, why do they defend this pile of rotten turds?

[–] slevinkelevra@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

My first though was sunken cost phallacy, but then again maybe it's in the nature of authority-obiding jobs to attract people who, well, would love to live in an authoritarian regime. Life is simple and structured this way.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 61 points 2 months ago (2 children)

How stupid has the populace become that they can't see this high school bullshit.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 19 points 2 months ago

Who says they don’t see it?

Maybe a lot of the population is actually hateful and racist, or at least tolerating of it.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

they can’t see this high school bullshit.

You have to go back to elementary school level, like 3rd grade, maybe 2nd.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 45 points 2 months ago

Right, it was aimed at all black people. His racism is equal opportunity.

This might be too new. For those without a meme IV:

[–] Prethoryn@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago (2 children)

No relevant but is it me or does that lady become more attractive with ever damn movie she is in.

[–] burgersc12@mander.xyz 13 points 2 months ago (2 children)
[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago

parks and rec has got you:

To paraphrase Donna:

"She can get it. Everyone on that show can get it."

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

The answer is yes, yes she does.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 10 points 2 months ago

Idk that's pretty old in meme years.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Holy shit, I never noticed that's the same person. My mind just cracked lol.

[–] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

She also played Boyle's insane ex wife in Brooklyn 99

[–] bostonbananarama@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You see, it's just a coincidence that he is running against someone who is black and Indian and he just happened to pick the two most racist and stereotypical dishes associated with each.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

The first one was chosen for him, he's reacting to a racist tweet. The second one is his own additional racism. It is an excellent display of how effortlessly racist he can be. Repubs enjoy things like this.

[–] finley@lemm.ee 26 points 2 months ago

“My obvious and clear racism isn’t offensive! The offended are the enemy!” said the future loser of every political endeavor he’d ever engage in

[–] JackFrostNCola@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago

Trump "Kamala isnt even black"
Vance "hey now, just in case she does turn out to be black, ____"

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 22 points 2 months ago

I only believe that in the sense that he actually means all black people.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I knew I didn't imagine that! Reminds me of when my ex-advisor in a grad program brought up fried chicken during a rant while arguing with a black student about something completely unrelated.

It was... crazy. I have no idea why such a stupid ass stereotype seems to exist in so many people's subconscious, just ready to expose them as an asshole.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Also, doesn’t everyone like fried chicken? I don’t even eat chicken and I make fake fried chicken

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Watermelon, too. Fucking weird that people think only black people are super into watermelon and fried chicken.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

It's fucking weird that people think there is any type of food that you're only into if you're a certain skin color.

I'm as white as can be. Soul food is fucking amazing.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Fried chicken is as American as apple pie, for Christ's sake! "African-Americans like an American staple!", uh, yes?? How is that supposed to be a distinguishing mark amongst Americans, much less a bad one??

Racists are not just ignorant and malicious bastards. They're also deeply weird.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

You can certainly tell Harris’ color and varied ethnicity is close to the surface of that campaign. The trumpets can’t help themselves.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Real class act, Vance. This is who I want representing all of us. Seems perfectly fit to be 1 heart beat away from president.
