Isn't it already over?

The coup leader was arrested by their own troops, right?

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The guy that got arrested says the president asked him to do it to raise the president's popularity. Does seem a little suspicious to try a coup with almost zero support, and then just roll over when the president says to stand down.

That makes no sense. Why would the military guy go along with that plan, and then after being caught as planned he then suddenly tells the world about the plan?

the coup version of buyers remorse?

No idea, that's just what he said. Usually a couple has support from high level officials in the military. Seems like he skipped a step.

Perhaps they should've tried couples therapy.

Haha, that's a hilarious autocorrect. I'd say you're right ;)

I was thinking that it escalated rather quickly to have the military involved.

Couples should never go straight to the military when they have marital issues. It's not right.

if you didnt know it was a coup, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit..

With Russia wanting to stir things up, there are a lot more coup attempts recently since they hope they'll get support.

I don't think this would help them in this case. The current president was part of the Morales administration and is a member of the Movement for Socialism. Neither of those are very close with the US.
