Deport them? What the fuck? You can't deport US citizens fucking hell how dumb is everyone.

[–] aseriesoftubes@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago (2 children)

You have to assume he’s talking about non-citizen protesters, but then again, authoritarians don’t let the rules stop them from doing what they want.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

It's more like that it's an attempt to "other" the protestors by insinuating they aren't real citizens.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

Yet another checkmark in his fascism playbook.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

or simple executive order. we cannot let this madman back into power.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Why would you assume that? Have you never heard him talk from his own mouth? The man has never been nuanced or multifaceted, he literally means everything he says in the most obvious way. He hates his assumed political foes, and is a big strong daddy. He will hurt or kill those foes. Nothing else is happening here.

[–] Vespair@lemm.ee 15 points 4 months ago

Yet.

It used to be that we couldn't just round up US citizens and put them in internment camps, until suddenly Executive Order 9066 changed the rules to say we could.

Never rest in the comfort and safety of the status quo; evil can spring at any time.

Sounds like the Palmer raids. 6,000 arrested, and though I don't think any US citizens were deported, over 550 people were.

Voting for Trump because you hate Biden's stance on Gaza?

Straight to jail, no question.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Failing to vote for Biden (i.e., failing to take positive action to keep Trump out of office) is just as bad.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Remember everyone, not voting isn't not choosing; you're still making a choice. By not voting, you aren't escaping the system, you're simply letting its decision be decided by other people, and a lot of those people are actually just evil and want nothing more than to hurt anyone they consider an "other." Don't let them win.

Yes, I'm making the choice to stop Democrats from turning into a second fascist party. Blue MAGA has to be purged.

Trump will force them to become the resistance again. That's what I want and why I'm voting Dem down ticket.

But I'm writing Aaron Bushnell's name in for President and I won't be guilted into voting for genocide Joe. As far as I'm concerned it's your fault things have gotten this bad, if he thought he'd lose votes he'd stop supporting genocide. Voters like you, blue no matter who's, have convinced him he can kill as many civilians as he wants and there won't be consequences. If he wins he'll take that lesson and turn it back on us, he could shoot someone walking down 5th Avenue and not lose any votes.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Aaron Bushnell

by doing so you're giving one more vote to trump, and shitting on that guy's legacy. classy, the ol' double-fuck-you

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Bushnell isn't voting for Biden either.

By your logic, self immolation is a vote for Trump.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Blue MAGA has to be purged.

Sorry, but this comparison just made me lose most of my respect for you. We are NOTHING like them. There are comparisons to be made, but at the end of the day the differences are not ignorable.

if he thought he’d lose votes he’d stop supporting genocide

Older voters still show support for israel. A united Gen X voting bloc would still not be enough to flip the majority Israel opinion.

Voters like you, blue no matter who’s

I always vote based on the candidates. If a republican was truly better, I would vote for them. Fat chance though.

If he wins he’ll take that lesson and turn it back on us, he could shoot someone walking down 5th Avenue and not lose any votes.

Ok, get back to me when your vacation to fantasyland is over. Reminder that Trump literally DID directly cause the deaths of American citizens by doing things like promoting Covid denial and giving Russians information on US spy operations, causing our operatives to be found and killed, but you're too busy imagining scenarios where Biden suddenly decides to shoot someone for no reason that you can't see Trump doing basically exactly that FOR REAL, as soon as he was put into power.

P.S. You know when an excellent time to vote for a better democratic candidate was? The primaries.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The majority of COVID deaths happened under Biden. Meanwhile, Trump never did genocide and Biden is doing it right now.

Trump isn't better, but he isn't worse. The choice this November is between polite Hitler and rude Hitler. That's it.

Also?

I do not care when members of the empire's army get killed. Miss me with that shit lol

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The majority of COVID deaths happened under Biden

Only because Covid happened mostly in Biden's term. Trump influenced the Republican party to reject masks and vaccines and contributed to their 15% higher mortality rate.

Trump isn’t better, but he isn’t worse. The choice this November is between polite Hitler and rude Hitler. That’s it.

Fuck off lmao you either know that's not true or you're so far beyond delusional that I cannot reach you.

I do not care when members of the empire’s army get killed. Miss me with that shit lol

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

First they came for the Palestinians, what the are you talking about? Polite Hitler is doing genocide! Fascism is already here!

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's foolish to believe that democracy could not commit genocide.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Between gerrymandering, the inherently unbalanced nature of the Senate, the House being too small to proportionally represent the population, and multiple presidents in my lifetime losing the popular vote? It's foolish to believe America is a democracy.

That's why it doesn't matter that the majority of Americans are opposed to the genocide and why our politicians ignore us.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We're not an ideal democracy, but the people still vote on public positions so yeah we're a democracy

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We're a very reformed undemocratic settler-colonial state and those reforms have attempted to make the US more democratic over the centuries, but we haven't come that far from the founding when elections were just a way to survey the wants and needs of white male property owners. Much like Israel, calling this is a "democracy" is an insult to all the people whose votes don't count, or count for less, aren't allowed to vote at all, or votes get thrown out because of some procedural bullshit that overrides their democratic will.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

You're not wrong in spirit but you're still wrong on the terminology. We are a democracy, it could just use more improvements.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I wonder if you consider Russia a democracy.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

tbh I don't think about Russia at all

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Well, think about it.

Is it a democracy?

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Ok fair enough actually

[–] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works -1 points 4 months ago

Disagree. Vote for Chase Oliver or some other third party/independent who actually believes in ending the conflict in Gaza. That candidate probably won't win, but voting outside the two-party system shows that neither candidate is acceptable.

Most people don't live in a swing state, so if that's the case for you, voting for one of the two major candidates is throwing your vote away. Use your vote to send a message.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works -3 points 4 months ago

You're going to get voted down by cowards who won't reply but you're right.

[–] dessalines@lemmy.ml 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We're gonna need to take a stance on whether to allow these electoralist threads, because this place could become as insufferable as reddit pretty quickly otherwise.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Democrats would support these protesters if Trump was president. Just something to think about.

What's he going to do, hang around in his dirty diaper until everyone gets sick of the smell?

[–] ParabolicMotion@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

So he is going to deport Jill Stein? Where is he going to send her?

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 3 points 4 months ago

you mean exactly like biden is doing right now?

[–] mydude@lemmy.world -2 points 4 months ago

When did he say this? In 2019?
