Ukrainian ingenuity.

Military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to massively drop mini-hedgehogs onto the roads using drones, thereby complicating the logistics of the Russian troops.

Quite an old idea

Edit: post title originally called the caltrops hedgehogs

[–] LittleWizard@feddit.de 16 points 8 months ago

The difference now should be the precision with which they can be distributed behind enemy lines, without the risk of any lifes.

[–] HELLZBELLY@lemmy.world 19 points 8 months ago

Oh it's like a caltrop, here I was wondering what kind of carnage the cute little animals were supposed to do.

I am unreasonably excited about this prospect. I'm such a sucker for old-school warfare used in modern contexts.

Next they need to deploy the ninjas

[–] eveninghere@beehaw.org 2 points 8 months ago

I've read about Ninjas these days, and I think they were actually close to those Ukrainian saboteurs ahead of the frontline.

Title updated to "caltrops"

[–] holycrap@lemm.ee 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Is hedgehogs a direct translation of the word Ukrainians use for these?

[–] LaFinlandia@sopuli.xyz 4 points 8 months ago

The source probably didn't know the technical term. There is a direct translation in Ukranian, Калтроп.

Soon we'll see russians driving mad mqx style trucks with snowplows in front

Plot twist: Russia deploys an army of roombas to collect them.

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 16 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Those "roombas" look suspiciously like humans in wheeled vehicles.

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

Mines are just Roombas that joined the military

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

I think you misspelled "wheelbarrows"
