Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially signed a bill to legalize medical marijuana—a step that he and other officials say can help soldiers address physical and mental wounds incurred during the nation’s war with Russia.

About one month after the legislation was “unblocked” from advancing to the president’s desk as an attempt to overturn the reform failed in the country’s parliament, Zelensky gave final approval to the bill on Wednesday.

The law will take effect within six months of being formally published, with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health tasked with developing rules for the program during that time.

Ukraine could start importing marijuana products sooner, after cannabis is moved from strictly prohibited under List I to available for medical use with a prescription under List II of the country’s drug code.

Russia will use this as propaganda. Putins second favorite slander about the west (right after everyone is a homosexual) is talking about all the addiction and drugs people take in the west and how this is wrecking the social fabric in the west. Of course he leaves out the part where a vast amounbt of russian man have a serious alcohol addiction.

Allowing cannabis for medical use is actually a good thing and is a show of progression. And there are twenty-somethings in russia too, who wish they could have this ability aswell as they get locked up for using it. But sadly, Putin can not grant it, as it would be a 180 on his previous hate talks and he is too thinly skinned that he could ever openly admit that he changed his mind on things like that. So he continues to lie, continues to ban and suppress and will use this development in Ukraine to spew the most heinous shit about this. He is after all a weak and pity man.

The fact that he says this shit while Krokodil exists is fucking laughable.

Eh, if he's already saying it, might as well make it true

Note: the law explicitly lists cancer and war-borne PTSD as conditions for which medical cannabis could be dispensed to patients.

[–] Milk_Sheikh@lemm.ee 13 points 9 months ago

Any photo of Zelenskyy in a suit, that’s his regular ol’ baby face from before Russia forced him to stare into the abyss of war. He didn’t blink, but his face today wears the scars of that trauma and stress

as long as the troops are imbibing on their off time/not while on patrol then I dont see how it matters if it's legal or not. what are they going to do, send them to the war front?
