Is there a community for advertising new communities? (lemmy.ml)

I'm wanting to create a new community here on Lemmy, but I'm worried that it won't gain any traction unless I advertise it a little bit. Is there a community where people can advertise newly made communities?

IMO it’s fine to just make a post about it in one of the larger communities that seems appropriate. Now is exactly the time for us to promote one another! And Lemmy doesn’t have an algorithm, so you’re going to have to do some leg work to get the word out. I think people will be appreciative and understanding of that, I would be.

I’m curious about this for instances, I’ve created one but have no idea how to “plug” it in a way that isn’t obnoxious lol

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !newcommunities@lemmy.world
