Reminds me a little of that Top Gear episode of when they were driving through the deep south... Shots will be fired...

Okay, then shots will be returned. Y'all need to realize the 2nd Amendment is for everyone. But for some reason, the people that I think actually need it are the ones trying to ban them for everyone.

did you happen to deflect one of these shots with your brain?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 2 points 9 months ago

Feel free to call the cops instead, just don't be surprised when they're closer than you think.

You know that was probably staged right? There were a few times Top Gear faked shit for ratings, but people don't care because the guys were funny.

Entertainment is entertainment, it wasn't about documenting what things are really like, just having people laugh at Clarkson finding reasons to yell HAMMOND at the top of his lungs at 6 am in the morning

Too many people bring up this show to me like it's factual.

Co-opting their symbols and culture is unironically a powerful move that more leftists need to be using imo.

I believe in gun control but I pack appendix carry and have a 0.8 second draw. Too many lunatics are allowed to own guns these days.

Gotcha, bought a white hood, what now?

Paint it rainbow and support the gays openly and loudly.

I'm sure this felt empowering, but I would advise against riding the Pride Kavalry into town regardless, especially considering they hate more than the q u e e r s

Well, it wouldn't have been the symbol I would have chosen to co-opt, but that's what you went with so I gave you an idea for how to do it. Personally I would start with something a little tamer if I were you.

Alternatively, one might note most conservative symbols carry a broad array of bigoted meanings and it's usually easier and more satisfying to smash them instead.

Two things:

  1. I thought the scratched writing on the truck said "Trav's rights or die" for half a second. I was like damn, you go trav, get it.

  2. I love the was/were joke but I am always torn between it and a similar one: If you misgender my friends I'm going to identify as a problem.

Anyway good post :)

If you misgender my friends I'm going to identify as a problem.

This is better because was/were aren't even pronouns

I very much am into using their own tactics and logic against them. If someone misgenders you, misgender them back. If they deadname you, keep calling them someone else.

They say not to go down to their level because they'll beat you with experience, but I've seen their playbook enough to know I can use it better.

[–] pinkdrunkenelephants@lemmy.cafe 6 points 9 months ago

They only say that to subjugate you and stop you fighting back, and, worst of all for them, getting a positive outcome which would disprove the dogma they impose on you and take away the control they have on all of us and the culture.

Never EVER listen to anyone who tells you not to stoop to an opponent's level, for they are only speaking to take advantage of the situation and assert dominance over everybody, which harms all of us.

[–] pinkdrunkenelephants@lemmy.cafe 4 points 9 months ago

That's exactly the spirit we need to adopt.
