I don't get it. I never had intercourse yet am not mad at video game characters. Did I prove Lenin wrong? When do I get my Nobel prize?

It's like force suggestion, it only works on the weak-minded.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

Nah you just exist to inspire hope.

This reminds me of a gal who made a crude photoshop of Bakunin in a gamer headset while discussing his ~~heated gamer moments~~ antisemitism.

"Here's a four hour video where I explain that the trans-coded character that trans people identify with and the writers explicitly say is trans really isn't, because glorious Nippon does not have the same understanding of trans people."

I mean... When it comes to "glorious Nippon" i sort of get it, to a degree.

If you still find yourself being properly represented a character then more power to you, but a lot of times the addition of trans characters to anime is less due to respect and more fetishization. I would hardly call japan progressive for lusting over trans women while also calling them the T slur.

I don't understand how transphobes manage to be so stupid. Just let people do what they want with their life, it affects you in absolutely no way if someone else is trans yet they waste their own time trying to make trans people have worse lives.

[–] Jimbo@yiffit.net 50 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Oh it affects their lives, it makes them sexually confused and that angers them

[–] euphoric_cat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

:trol: I guess you are right, there'd a correlation between the more alt right a US state is and the amount of trans or femboy porn being watched

[–] Riven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's propaganda by a certain party that lies to them telling them that trans people are after their children to convert them, after them to catfish them and just terrible people all around. Nevermind that trans people are just people trying to live their own lives with their own worries.

[–] adhocfungus@midwest.social 4 points 9 months ago

trans people are after their children to convert them

I think this is a very big part of it. When I was a teenager and our state legalized gay marriage my dad said it was great. He was all for their freedom to do as they pleased behind closed doors. But as soon as he thought I, his son, might be gay he was terrified. Suddenly he would change the channel if an effeminate man walked on. He'd leave Maxim magazines everywhere. He'd mock anybody "acting" gay.

Fearing for your children is incredibly powerful. Best case my dad was scared I would be bullied. More likely I think he was scared people would see him differently and he might be mocked. It's such an easy lever for politicians to pull when trying to manipulate their voters.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

I think that these people are terrified of change, so they attack anything that deviates from their nuclear family, WASP, Norman Rockwell world view.

so the white guy who is facing left in the first panel turns into a red guy who is facing right in the second panel who is talking to a guy who looks more like he used to than he himself does who is also facing the way he used to be facing great comic

Okay but genuinely, what games are there? I know of Celeste, and... huh, that's the extent of my knowledge. I need more canonically trans video games for my gay little transbian heart

Edith: Well, thank you all, you lovely little gamers, you^^

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 31 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Any game that lets you choose body type and pronouns separately will have fragile little snowflakes complaining that this is "shoving it in their face" or "forcing it on them" somehow.

3 that come to mind are cyberpunk, Baldur's Gate, and Temtem.

[–] jukibom@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

Starfield. Such a sad shitstorm

[–] Thrashy@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

Battletech let you choose your pronouns independently from the gender presentation of your little 2D avatar icon and butthurt GamerGaters review-brigaded the game and harassed the one trans developer on the dev team.

Great game, though, even if your ops guy's idea of advance Intel is telling you about reinforcements the turn after they open fire on you, the DropShip pilot lands by Braille on your head sometimes, and your shipboard engineer is probably a plant for the cornball tecnho-Illuminati who have been doing a space CIA for the last few hundred years... But I digress.

I think there is a character who is trans in Baldur's gate 3. Though I have no clue who they are, I probably keep killing them since I am of the opinion that collateral casualties are a myth.

Anyways time to start my first dark urge campaign.

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 23 points 9 months ago

When parts of The Last of Us Part II leaked, people mistook one of the main characters for being trans and completely lost their minds over it.

As it turns out, they weren't. >!But one of the supporting characters was.!<

[–] euphoric_cat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 9 months ago (3 children)

celeste, cyberpunk has claire who is mtf, tell me why has good ftm representation, guilty gear bridget obviously

There is a prominent trans character in Watch Dogs 2

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Didn't realize Claire was trans.

Makes absolutely no difference to me in how I feel about that character or the game in general. I suppose I just didn't pay enough attention during her missions.

Most of this stuff I haven't played, but I might now.

[–] Frozzie@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago (2 children)

She clearly mentions her transition in one of her quests. Also her car "Beast" has a big trans flag painted on the rear.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Birdo from Super Mario 2.

Bridget from Guilty Gear.

Poison from Fatal Fury.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Have to manually pick out all the trans ones in these lists.

[–] KpntAutismus@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I guess SJW lost its hard left coding with the younger generations? 🀨 I read this & it didn't make sense because the left was almost always the SJW, would fight for trans.

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 22 points 9 months ago

Top panel can perhaps be read mainly as:

My peers are so sensitive and get offended about everything - total Social Justice Warrior babies.

Then:

β€œTrans people exist.”

UHG I AM SO OFFENDED!

The point: SJWs aren’t really the triggered babies, but the adults in the room who complain when appropriate instead of being offended at facts of life.

Kind of owning the term SJW in all its left coded glory!
