(Mexican here) those mfers multiply like rabbits. Also they have everything, but only one cashier works at any given time lol

I hate them because they've turned my 5 minute trip to buy some eggs and milk, into a 45 minute odyssey because there's always a line of motherfuckers doing money transfers and paying for their utilities.

I’m going to ask an ignorant question here. Do the people paying utility bills at places like this not have internet, or bank accounts, or debit cards, or a mix of these?

Many people (event those who go to actual banks) just don't use banking apps, they rather take their physical money to a human cashier, doesn't matter if the queue is a mile long, maybe they feel it's safer or don't trust their phones for that shit. Who knows.

I worked for the company that did their loyalty program, and then it was told to me that many mexicans don't trust the banks enough to go there, and prefer these "independent" shops as an alternative.

That's exactly why I buy my cat food at the pharmacy across the street. What a world we live in. 🙃

Sounds like Japanese 7-11 then. A friend of mine bought plane tickets from one to come visit me.

Oxxo! A god send when traveling through any town in Mexico

*As a foreigner. The prices are fair and not tourist gouged

Fucking love those places.

These things popped up all over the place here in Brazil, out of nowhere. No kidding, my neighborhood has at least 4 of them in a walking distance from me.
