Of course they did, Facebook's only incentive to do things is money. It started disgusting as a way to rate babes on campus and then was engineered to be able to sell anything to anyone with advertisements. This isn't news, it's well known business practice. It'd be news if someone found out that people with power at Facebook see a problem with this.

I find Facebook fits most of my needs. Would recommend to anyone looking for privacy and security baked into to the platform. You can tell it was built by a company with a strong moral ethos.
