Thank you, beautifully said! When federation between Lemmy instances was finally implemented and people started forming their own instances, I decided to take part in that despite not having extensive system administration experience. I also wanted to experiment. Now I have thought that my intention for Sopuli is to be an alternative to the shitty corporate social media platforms you described – and looks like this has taken off very well in the last few years. Good to hear that I am doing something inspiring and beneficial.
That's our defence minister Antti Häkkänen, who is here participating remotely in a Nato-Ukraine council meeting with other defence ministers.
Not a minor bug, I just decided to put random things as taglines for the instance, such as that one quote from some Lemmygrad user. Just for fun.
Got the server migration done and Sopuli is as good as new! Hopefully I can rest for a while.
I can't pin my own replies, but I can mark them with "speaking as an admin".
This makes a good feature request to make at Lemmy's GitHub: add a feature for pinning messages in a thread.
There's a Patreon page?
Why wouldn't I? We are living in interesting times.
"It's not a bad game, it's a AAAAA title!" "Oh great, yet another AAAA game from Ubisoft". That high number of A's is becoming a synonym for a bad rushed game with a big budget.
Sopuli's registrar is Hostinger, I don't think there is a threat of a similar problem.
I rebooted the instance once around 20:30, only for it to go down somewhere in 21:30. Then I went to sleep and around 7:00 the instance was up again. Weird, don't know what caused it.
If I were to buy a Steam Deck or similar console, I'd buy a SNES-themed button set for it.
