So there is now 6 sources saying Russia called for peace, Ukraine agreed, US/UK blocked them but libs still deny this and don't want to hear about it.

I wouldn't trust Gerhard Schröder on anything regarding Russia to be honest.

I wouldn’t trust Gerhard Schröder on anything ~~regarding Russia to be honest.~~

Sure, but what purpose he had in saying it, most likely he just blurted out what was already considered common knowledge by then, either not realising or not giving a shit it's going contrary to the official propaganda. Maybe getting a jab at the current govt or something.

For all his many, many faults, Gerhard Schröder isn't exactly a bumbling oaf. His purpose for saying it is his multi decade close relationship with Putin that has netted him a very comfortable life in Russia and he ain't about to throw that shit out, he'd always give you the line that paints Russia in a positive light. Doesn't really have bearing on whether it's true or not, he's just absolutely not a source to be trusted here

Corroborated by at least 3 other sources, or 5 according to the OP pic

[–] TheOtherwise@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Is there a post containing all 6 sources anywhere?

Putin is now officially more moderate than Netanyahu.

He always was, tbh. He has his own serious (reactionary domestic policy) issues, but any idea that Putin belongs grouped amongst the likes of Netanyahu- or Biden, Obama, Bush, etc... is nonsense.

Putin is much like Nehru and Nasser.... Anti colonialist in 2023 that i would say. Neither Nehru or Nasser were pro communist .

The US and UK's governments are absolutely evil

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Are they literally trying to claim that the peace negotiations were torpedoed...by Russia? The nation that started them? I want to say "even western libs aren't stupid enough to fall for this." but sadly they'll probably be ranting about Russia rejecting peace deals within the week.

[–] mughaloid@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No, they are saying Russia started the peace negotiations

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 10 months ago

It seems my reading comprehension is really bad before I have my coffee. Thanks!

[–] novibe@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago

The article explicitly says the deal was torpedoed by the US/UK.

Which is hilarious… “Nooo you can’t end the war” “K now that the war is ongoing for the foreseeable future, we’re gonna stop helping you lol kthxbye”
