This is all over allowing whole milk to be served again in public schools which stopped being served in favor of low-fat skim, 1%, and 2% after child health initiatives were put in place during the Obama administration.

These people are ridiculous.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 26 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Being ridiculous is the point - to denigrate our institutions with frivolity and poor leadership.

That, and they are adequately representing the portion of the electorate that thinks InfoWars is reliable news

[–] agissilver@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Now I disagree with the ridiculous arguments they have been making in favor of this, but I think whole milk should be offered as an option to school kids. There are increasingly more studies that show the fear of fats in food is unjustified (not to mention that manufacturers' solution was to replace fat with sugar in their products).

Scientists slash experts designed the Titanic, amateurs designed... uh, designed... scientists, experts built the Titanic, and amateurs built the Arc," she explained.

Did she have a stroke?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Not only do these people love to denigrate experts, they think their fairy tales are actual history. LOL.

I want to see one of these people making such anti-expert, anti-intellectual statements have their teeth drilled by a non-expert the next time they need a cavity filled.

Do they mean the ark, as in Noah's ark?

If so, checkmate liberals /s

[–] kromem@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Yes, that's exactly what she means.

Which is why it's fair game to counter with the point that scientists built both the USS Enterprise and Millennium Falcon.

Republicans went on to imply that other forms of milk like almond milk, soy milk, etc were communist beverage

Ohhhhh of course he did. 🙄

We love forced impregnation to steal a baby's milk here in MURICA!

Wait so I have never liked cows milk. Is this why I keep wanting the proletariat to rise up and over the bourgeoisie? If I had only liked cows milk as a child I would have become a staunch capitalist.

"We want only the most nutritional option for Santa," ranted Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC)

Remembered this from last month, probably because of that porn star last name:

GOP Lawmaker Laments Workers' Laziness In Hearing About Overtime Pay

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 months ago

Virginia Foxx says something stupid again. Surprise surprise. Career moron who happens to be a politician. I've unfortunately had to meet the asshole.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It’s adorable when they think they have a point. It’s like listening to an eight year old child tell you how he has proof that vegetables are bad for you.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I remember seeing a comic recently in which it talked about the children that screamed about how "they didn't have to learn this topic or that topic"....and now these same types are doing their "research" on the net and so on, generally making total asses of themselves.

[–] HubertManne@kbin.social 12 points 9 months ago

Wait! this isn't the onion?

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 7 points 9 months ago

[serious] I’m honestly struggling to know if this is satire. Someone please tell me?!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

LOL, they are just unhinged. There are still so many people falling for that dairy council nonsense, I guess.

[–] badaboomxx@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

When you coudln't think the republicans can be even more stupid, they show they can go beyond that.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago

Conservatives are what you get when you give kids between the ages of 8-12 the keys to the kingdom.

[–] Tedesche@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I think the hubbub the media is generating around this event is really fucking stupid and mean-spirited. The woman was simply using some relatively mild, light-hearted rhetoric to make her argument for why whole milk should be included in public school cafeterias, and people are treating it like she believes Santa is real. This is shameful reporting.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Well, it looks like they were just co-opted by ridiculous dairy council propaganda about the "health" of milk.

It's also interesting that white supremacists made a big deal of drinking dairy, as well as talking a lot about "soy boys".
