I guess I’ll sit here and wait patiently while absolutely nothing happens to him.

And yet, last I checked, she still refuses to stop identifying as a Republican.
The GOP is evil. If you identify as a member, you are also evil.
I just listened to an interview with her and NPR on 1A. She’s being incredibly direct in criticizing both the party and specific republicans. Now, you can def argue it’s a little too late but I’ll give her credit for not toeing the party line nowadays…for whatever little it might be worth.
She's also laying the groundwork for splitting the party, with her suggesting she could make a third party run for 2024. I was thinking last night that if she was to do that, and get Chris Christie to be the VP pick, that could actually add a lot of stability to the political landscape. Would they win? Probably not, but it would take a lot of wind out of the sails of the fascists, and they wouldn't win, either. But it would give today's Republican voters who still hold dear the core principles of democracy a place to not feel politically homeless.
If the goal is preventing an openly fascist American government, Liz Cheney must run.
GOP has been evil longer than Liz Cheny has been, though. Yet she still enthusiastically joined their ranks. ALL of her current actions are trying to clean and fix their reputation by aiming to expel the loudest and most obvious of their members because those most obvious members are revealing the true goals of the party instead of maintaining the kayfabe that keeps them civilly acceptable.
ALL of the GOP are correctly self-identifying conservatives. They want to maintain traditional values and power structures, even if those traditions stand in the way of fairness, progress, or justice. If they cared more about individual liberties than traditional values, they'd be liberals. If they cared more about the progress of society than traditional values, they'd be progressives. If they cared more about the social good of the nation, they'd be socialists. They tell you firmly and clearly they are none of these things, and they are right.
To be conservative MEANS you do not want a fair, just, sustainable, and successful society. It means you care more about tribe than anything else. To self-identify as conservative is no different than to say you hate and wish to make suffer anyone who doesn't resemble and support you.
The GOP evil goes back to the founding of this country. Slavers gonna slave.
I know what you're getting at here, but the way you phrased it is 100% wrong. The Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an expressly anti-slavery party.
The Republican party hasn't been the party of Lincoln in decades. If you want to find something close to a 1854 Republican, you've got to look at the Democrats.
That's just semantic nonsense. The conservative movement in this country is all that matters. Labels are for cereal boxes.
Unless those people are still alive, what labels have been applied previously are irrelevant.
Ah yes, the most pitiful refuge of the factually incorrect: iTs JuSt SemAnTiCs.
Just admit you were wrong and do better. We all make mistakes.
I wouldn't be surprised if she's stuck in a no true Scotsman fallacy. "She's a real Republican, its the Trumpers who have betrayed the values and don't belong." Despite that it's the majority of them doing that.
Ohio is a stupid fucking place if Jordan is the best you got
There's a reason why the majority of the US's astronauts are from Ohio.
That place sucks so bad, people want to leave the fucking planet.
Having a naval academy helps with meeting selection criteria.
Ohio has a naval academy?
Actually, the real answer is that Wright-Patterson AFB is there, and that the Dayton area has a strong aviation history.
He's not, it's just gerrymandered to shit here.
Yea and I bet Gym Jordan has ties to Nazis in California.
Just in California?
Ya, what about those Illinois NAZIs
I hate Illinois NAZIs
Indictments be flowin' like dolla bills
Gym Jordan is truly sketchy. When is that documentary coming out, anyway?
Damn. As of just checking… her book is sold out at Amazon…
Damn. I wonder if I can find a copy floating by on the open seas
There are some interesting snippets in there about what she learned about how the Dem party operates vs the Republicans from when she was part of the Jan 6th committee.
In the Dems' case, the reps themselves do a lot of the work - they're actual lawyers and qualified people who can dig into the substance of an issue and go through the details in a knowledgeable way. The reps, in contrast, rely on staffers for most everything that isn't the most basic understanding. She said that the difference between how the Dem and Rep parties operate are like night and day.
I think the snippet is included as part of Lawrence O'Donnell's interview with Nancy Pelosi last night, but I might be wrong. I watched a lot of Liz Cheney talking on the news last, and heard a lot of snippets from her audiobook yesterday as well, so I'm not 100% sure, but I think the source is either Lawrence or Nicole Wallace's show.
I found it in the library at the start of all things.
