The debates are going to be a trip.

Biden: “We’re investing in infrastructure and creating new jobs.”

Trump: “I’m bringing back concentration camps to own the libs.”

media: it sounds like both of you make very good points

Under the mantra “DRILL, BABY, DRILL,” he says he would ramp up oil drilling on public lands and offer tax breaks to oil, gas, and coal producers. He would roll back Biden administration efforts to encourage the adoption of electric cars and reverse proposed new pollution limits that would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030.

I wonder if Elon is still a fan.

Of course he is. It's all about how loud and controversial the rhetoric is. It doesn't matter what is actually being said, but rather, it's about causing further division of the people. That allows people with the slightest bit of power to get more power without being seen.

The rich person tax breaks he will pass (quietly, while making noise on other stuff)will ensure that it's a net gain for Elon. EV adoption isn't going to stop no matter what Trump does anyways. At most he can slow it down.

Honestly, you can read and understand a lot of Trump’s plan by examining Mussolini’s strategy for fascist Italy.

I didn't see shooting illegal immigrants as they cross the border but otherwise he's got a nearly full bingo card of rightwing nuttery wishlist items.

That was a wild read. We all know he is a Bullshitter though so who knows what will happen. America is on a wild ride. The rest of the world watches on as an empire slowly degrades pulling us down with them

He will try, Hitler is his hero and this rhetoric bears striking similarity.

[–] Travalanche@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

But now he's pissed off too.

[–] EdyBolos@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

Omg, his ideas sound like straight out of a dystopian reality. Or probably fascism.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Read this and you know his playbook.

I would have gone with the book "It Can't Happen Here", but that's just the fictional version of your link

Well, the only way it can be much worse is if Trump's plans also include fediverse server raids, tariffs on fediverse usage, and mass fediverse admin arrests, which would most likely guarantee a lot more outrage here.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

But with less than a year until Election Day, Trump is dominating the race for the Republican nomination and has already laid out a sweeping set of policy goals should he win a second term.

His presidency, especially the early days, was marked by chaos, infighting and a wave of hastily written executive orders that were quickly overturned by the courts.

As part of that plan, he says he would immediately direct U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to undertake the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.

He would target people who are legally living in the United States but harbor “jihadist sympathies” and revoke the student visas of those who espouse anti-American and antisemitic views.

Trump wants to reimpose his travel ban that originally targeted seven Muslim-majority countries and expand it to “keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the country.” In the wake of the Hamas attack on Israel, he has pledged to put in place “ideological screening” for immigrants.

And again, he says, he will exit the Paris Climate Accords, end wind subsidies and eliminate regulations imposed and proposed by the Biden admiration targeting incandescent lightbulbs, gas stoves, dishwashers and shower heads.

The original article contains 1,445 words, the summary contains 194 words. Saved 87%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

"He says he will require local law enforcement agencies that receive Justice Department grants to use controversial policing measures such as stop-and-frisk. As a deterrent, he says local police should be empowered to shoot suspected shoplifters in the act. “Very simply, if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store,” he said in one recent speech."

Literally just wants to turn it into a shithole country. Skipping chopping hands off and just skip to execution.

He says he will require local law enforcement agencies that receive Justice Department grants to use controversial policing measures such as stop-and-frisk.

So he wants to suspend/dismiss US Citizen's 4th Amendment right (as ruled by the US Supreme Court in Terry v. Ohio).

As a deterrent, he says local police should be empowered to shoot suspected shoplifters in the act.

And he wants to suspend/dismiss the 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments of the Constitution which is the "innocent until proven guilty" parts as well as Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution which guarantees the right of habeas corpus which is the right to a fair trial.

When trump said he had "no duty to support the Constitution" apparently he was truly showing us who he was.

To quote Maya Angelou:

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."
