Poor Lieutenant Van Mayter. This stuck with me as one of the most horrifying ways to go in TNG.

(First is probably from asshole frog-god Nagilum.)

Yeah this scene scared the hell out of little me when I first saw it.

Those invisible blue aliens that transformed Geordi got me worse though; legit nightmare fuel those things.

For me it was the aliens who abducted Riker and other crew. The scene where they're on the holodeck recreating the abduction and they add the clicking? Fuck that.

I honestly can't think of many deaths that are as graphic as this either. Ignoring the exploding admiral in season 1 anyway. This really does stick out

Is an ass-wagon something you'd use to haul ass?

All the TNG bloopers are great but that one is definitely a favorite simply due to how fucking insane Frakes comes off.

So many corridors, so little time.

Seriously, you'd think they'd come up with a way to move from one place to another faster than by foot. Like a ... transporter or something.

[–] xusontha@ls.buckodr.ink 1 points 1 year ago

That would be crazy, right? Creating a transporter would have all sorts of problems, like how do you transport someone without sending a clone and killing the original?

I take it that she only dispenses unusual or disturbing bits of info?

Oh but of course. If you want facts you ask Data. If you want philosophy you ask Picard. If you want reality, you ask the Lieutenant of the Hallway.

Sidenote: While I didn't make this meme, if anyone can remind me of the episode that this was in then I'd be glad to go make the template for anyone else to use.

Here we go! Thanks for that buddy! Just realized I managed to (accidentally) get it frame perfect too. Damn.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nice work and thanks! Now I just need the inspirado.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Inspirado?

Remember, I'm working with 3 braincells and two of them are coordinating my dancing/singing to The Pointer Sisters that's blasting in my place right now.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Inspiration. Also a reference to the Tenacious D show episode of the same name.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ahhhhhhhhh. Okay fair enough. I've been meaning to look into more Tenacious D but keep getting sidetracked by my ADHD.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bonus fact: The club announcer in the episode is Migleemo in Lower Decks.

[–] Lauchs@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Migleemo is Paul F Tompkins who is a really solid comedian. Definitely worth checking out his stuff.

[–] Lauchs@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Oh that was a wonderful nightcap of Tompkins that I hadn't yet heard! Thanks!

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Awesome! Gimme a few minutes to scan that article for roughly where it would be in the episode, find the moments, get the screenshots, and make the template.

I feel even worse for the poor bastards who have to pull out that floor plating and carpeting, go in there replace all the wiring and conduits, and haul the giant amalgamated machine person mess off to sickbait to be separated for funeral service.
