Didn't ask for them, won't use them. WhatsApp is not Twitter, is not Insta, is not TikTok, is not [insert social media name].
Forget channels, WhatsApp itself is trash. No point talking about trashy additions to a trashy spy product.
I just wish that people who know this, yet deliberately continue to use it, find the courage one day and say FU to Zuckerberg, and switch to alternatives.
I know, I know, it's not really feasible (or some other excuse) to ditch WhatsApp in countries like Brazil and India, but I don't belive it's a completely impossible task either.
I'd switch to alternatives any day but unfortunately that would require these people to also switch:
- family
- friends
- university course-mates
- traineeship tutors
- residents of the residence I am a representative for
- the hardest one of all: your mother
Yeah, My family and friends all switched, but your mother is still adamant to using anything but WhatsApp
Pale imitations of Telegram's channels.
Along with not imitating the much more needed features like replies tree window. Whatsapp is more personal than Telegram so maybe copy those type of features first
Invasive trash. I don't want the face of bad bunny shoved into my phone.
Everything Meta/Facebook does is the worst of spyware. And they are bad for democracy and all. Best to aviud their trash as widely as possible to prevent further harm to yourself and to society at large.
Seems like purely an advertising channel. I see no value in it. I hope it makes the product worse and more people leave it
Never used WhatsApp.
They aren't E2EE so all messages and activity are recorded. They are subject to to very different rules than regular chats or groups.
It's useless and I don't want to use it and never will use it.
I have been looking for ways to turn the channels tab invisible or at least shift it all the way to the right so I have my calls and messages next to each other again.
If they continue the shittification of Whatsapp I may just leave. Especially if Whatsapp is forced to also communicate with other messengers like Signal or Telegram. That would seal the deal for me.
The only reason I even am using a Facebook product is that too much family and friends are using it. As soon as I can get out, I will.
Once the new EU legislation comes into action, the one that forces chat apps to expose their e2ee API, we will be able to just use something like beeper to have all chats in one place..
Sadly, as it is, using beeper breaks the encryption and is not really recommended.
It would be nice if people used signal but ya..
IDK why they even exist.
Everybody uses WhatsApp here, but is not like they would willingly use said channels.
Facebook Instagram and WhatsApp
They are all Zuckerberg. They are all Meta.
I will never use them.
Here in Brazil it's the most used app, so although I don't like the messenger itself - let alone the other features - I'm obliged to use the app because everyone here uses it as their main app. For me, I'd stay away from Whatsapp
looks nice. But, I am sure it could be helpful to send your message or do some promotion to your contacts especially when WhatsApp is prevalent in certain countries like India/Indonesia etc
I don't know as I haven't passed through their privacy policy.
I like the idea, just havent found any content that is interesting to me unfortunately
I see no reason to use it
