But why is Barack Obama milking cows.

I'm guessing this phrase is sarcasm, satire, and/or mocking conservatives/republicans/racists? I've heard it before but I forget

[–] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yes. These days you mostly see "orange man bad" and conservatives think it's a savage burn. Because they think the rest of us hate Trump because he's orange or something.

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 12 points 1 year ago

Because racists were mad. And are, and will continue to be.

But... but Futurama didn't get a reboot, it got a new season that builds upon the existing story.

A reboot means creating a new version or adaptation of an existing show and that's not the case.

[–] Qopper@surom.de 2 points 1 year ago

I hate Hulu so much for changing the intro to include Hulurama

[–] Uprise42@artemis.camp 28 points 1 year ago

Tbh I think Futurama is perfect for streaming. It’s a fantastic show that I could easily binge but I’m just not feeling the waiting each week for an episode. Some shows I will wait for the episode and will plan for time to watch the premiere. But Futurama, I keep forgetting about. I’m enjoying the episodes and think it’s a great season, but I’m forgetting about it shortly after. I would gladly binge 10 episodes once or twice a year though and be happy with that.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to calculate the success of a reboot? They are not aiming for awesome with these. They just need it to meet the lower end of the estimate of people that say they would watch a reboot of a familiar popular show. These are zero risk endeavors. Blame statistics and big data. Depressing but this isn't going to stop.

Odd and mildly disconcerting choice of meme format...

[–] mub@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 year ago

In some cases the cow has died and they are trying milk the ground where there the cow stood.

[–] arefx@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is the new Futurama any good?

[–] Sigmatank@midwest.social 14 points 1 year ago

It feels the same as the later season of the show. Some people would say that isn't the hight of the show, but I still really like it

[–] Venat0r@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I didn't enjoy the latest season of futurama as much, but I did like all the previous reboots it had before the most recent. It was still good enough to watch though so can't complain.

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Haven't been a fan of it until the last two episodes that have come out, those were pretty good. When they abandon "current" culture references as the core joke and just have a self contained Futurama esque story it still works

[–] Venat0r@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Except the latest episode seems like it was written by chatgpt...

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I'd really like a Reboot reboot, a legitimate one though

[–] Futurama@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

We're back, baby!

[–] eslaf@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

There won't be any reboots of the greatest shows ever made, like Malcom in the middle

[–] i_stole_ur_taco@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ugh, they'll probably call it Malcomer in the Middler and it'll be the three brothers as adults living together with their annoying kids.

[–] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Write that down, write that down - Hollywood Executive, probably

[–] kbotc@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Well, the lead of that one had traumatic brain damage and has memory troubles, so the reboot is pretty difficult.

[–] Glide@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago

Gotta be real, I really enjoyed the Animaniacs reboot.

Self-referential comedy just keeps working.

[–] theduncan@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Did I miss the Daria reboot.

[–] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Hmmmmm now you’ve kind of caught me.

If they are able to use a proper soundtrack I’d make an exception for this show.

[–] BolexForSoup@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

I've only watched the first episode of the new season but it already feels like they have a better stride than in past reboots. Even the joke about getting cancelled still landed despite it being a pretty overused topic in comedy currently.

[–] sagrotan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Ever watched tv in the 90s? Same. Love boat, Magnum p.i., general hospital, a-team, the list goes on. Hm, it seems the entertainment industry doesn't care about good products, just about money. Surprise. But maybe - just maybe - it'll suffer if people don't watch that crap anymore. But that won't happen. It's not the greedy necromancers, it's the consumer that's broken and enables the scheme. Btw: that's the meme that completely incorporates anything in the modern capitalist world, including exploited humans.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

As much as I am not a huge fan of reboots in general for TV shows/movies/series/etcetera, I really want to see a reboot of Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron.

The meme definitely holds true, though.

[–] Nurgle@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Probably wanted exempted (or is the exception).

[–] mub@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 year ago

[–] Black_Gulaman@lemmy.dbzer0.com -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

*excempted

You can edit the title.

[–] bpm@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

are you trying to say "exempted"?

[–] randint@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I would assume they are, but the correct word here is actually exempt, with no -ed.

[–] Black_Gulaman@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well now that's what I call "a lesson" I hope everybody learned one, cause I sure did. Thank you kind educated strangers.
