It is good to have friends, is it not, Mr. Garibaldi? Even if maybe only for a little while?

Now, I go to spread happiness to the rest of ~~the station~~ lemmy. It is a terrible responsibility but I have learned to live with it.

Mr. Garibaldi

I can’t help but hear this in his voice

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Ah, Meestah Garibaldi!

[–] Zink@programming.dev 23 points 1 year ago

I am 100% on board for B5 characters lying in wait to jump out among the trek memes.

M'star trek peeps, is the show worth watching? I've never seen it, and I've heard mixed reviews.

[–] teft@startrek.website 29 points 1 year ago (2 children)

100% worth it. With the caveat that the effects aren't good. The story and characters more than make up for it though.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Maya did what it could. The effects were amazing for a TV series at the time.

[–] djmarcone@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

The cgi was done on Amigas IIRC

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

100%

S1 is rough, but it really picks up right out of the gate in S2. The last season is halfway to a different show, it's skippable. Crusader is fine, too; it's not great, but I don't regret watching it.

Oh my god yes. I’m surprised you’re not watching it now. There’s a good amount of 90s camp and cheese, but the bones are very, very solid.

Y E S

Londo my beloved

[–] M500@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

In the past year it was released in 4K. As others have said, the effects are not great, but growing up in that era, it felt a little nostalgic.

I was pretty hooked on it for a while. I got kinda burned out on the last season. It’s not that it wasn’t good, I just binged it too hard.

Yeah it’s kind of like the spiritual successor to 90s trek with family guy humor sprinkled in. I did not watch season 3 yet, but I heard it was great!!

[–] AngrilyEatingMuffins@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I thought season three was the best so far

[–] M500@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

It’s been a while so I’m thinking about doing a series rewatch before getting into season 3.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It's cheesy and cheap and often very manichaean. Yet, it's very interesting and got me hooked to an extent that nothing on the Star Trek universe managed to.

[–] Dee@lemmings.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's from Babylon 5, for anybody coming to the comments and wasn't familiar with what show this is from.

[–] AngrilyEatingMuffins@kbin.social 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Every sci fi fan should watch it! Season one is a little rough but boy does it get good. Season four is arguably the best sci fi season ever.

[–] djmarcone@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bab5 is the best scifi tv show of all time. Some people would say that The Expanse is just as good or better, I don't know.

B5, DS9 and the expanse are all pretty much tied for me

[–] shiveyarbles@beehaw.org 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is great, I lovev Star Wars

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I, also, love Battlestar Galactica.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

But that's a different franchise. Battlestar Galactica is the one with the robots everyone calls "toasters" but they can only say "exterminate" and can't walk stairs except in the later seasons.

[–] b9chomps@beehaw.org 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I actually watched it for the first time recently and quite enjoyed it. Lots of interesting characters and story. Like already mentioned the CGI is really bad. I wish they stuck with models rather than early 3D effects. Season 5 and the end of 4 feel a bit underwhelming after the main threat is resolved sometime in the middle of the penultimate season.

[–] M500@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That’s exactly where I stopped watching. They had this major plot line resolved and then it just stuck around with nothing to do.

[–] legios@aussie.zone 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As an FYI, they didn't expect to get renewed for S5 so the end of S4 was originally supposed to be the series finale. Then they had to come up with a new one

[–] M500@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks! That makes total sense.

[–] comfortable_doug@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I, too, love Battlestar Galactica

I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar.

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I have a bad feeling about this

[–] lastjunkieonearth@lemdro.id 3 points 1 year ago

you always say that, you always say I have a bad feeling about this (drop)

[–] comfortable_doug@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Isn't that from the Star Trek song everybody hates?

[–] xusontha@ls.buckodr.ink 2 points 1 year ago

It's not that bad I actually liked it

[–] djmarcone@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Psi Corp and techno mage are fantastic creations in that universe.

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 8 points 1 year ago

With holo decks everything is in universe. This could just be a holodrama.

[–] quinkin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You moon-faced assassin of joy

[–] teft@startrek.website 7 points 1 year ago

Poor Vir. Londo treats him so poorly.

[–] raffitz@startrek.website 5 points 1 year ago

I'm fed up with your fabrications, Mollari!

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago
